STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Born and brought up in an educated family in the state of Andhra Pradesh, I had a privileged upbringing in my family setting. Education was a prime motivator in social communication. Therefore I managed to score well in my exams right from school level and qualified to study in one of the premier engineering and science institutes in India (BITS-Pilani), university with an interdisciplinary character. Economics and finance courses supplemented each other to bring out the principles and fundamental basis behind organizing socio-economic and financial universe. It is this motivation, skill and level of study along with a good background in quantitative aspects that enabled me to see further into applying for a course in finance in a premier institution of the world. My expertise and training in an engineering discipline has made me seek specific answers by proper research and assessment of facts. A practice school stint in water resources (at Centre for Water Resources Development and Management) made me have measurable insights into need for an environmental reference for healthy socio economic regeneration. My present work in Listing Department of National Stock Exchange of India Limited, along with interaction with leading capital market specialists has sustained my interest in derivatives, flow of funds structure, theorization of interrelated stock-product-money market structures of the world for financial stability, economic justice and increasing productivity both in location specific and globally stable financial flow terms. Also at BITS I had an opportunity to work on two projects that my supervisor is keen on publishing and is working to that end. One of these reports was in the area of inequality of education. It looked into the primary and secondary level of school structures in districts of Andhra Pradesh. I studied the principal components analysis to organize and have a fair assessment of large number of variables after negating inter variable influences of multicollinearity. This has given me the confidence to work with wider range of variables (employing R-Programming and MATLAB) and making quantitative sense of relationships involved. The second project was in the area of environment and infrastructure linkage indices that are relevant for developing economies that always suffer from the burden of tradeoffs in land spaces between environment and infrastructure development having great implications for poverty alleviation and economic growth. My interaction with friends in BITSIAN surroundings has also had a robust influence on me, it taught me the invaluable skills to manage, lead and collaborate effectively with people. Real Product specific financial innovations, climate change modeling, venture capital risk issues for startups in uncertain environments have come to hold special fascinations for me. Chemical engineering skills will make me go towards new product design decisions, control systems, error assessment and mitigating measures, interest in nano modules seeks to integrate optimum design space for technical efficiency initially and economic efficiency later. Indian schools are a good background in developing mathematical intuition, techniques and applications. Later on many of the courses in BITS had a strong mathematical component. In Micro Economics we developed primary insights into expected utility structures of risk and uncertainty, using optimization techniques in demand and production structures,

browers fixed point theorem application in formulating general equilibrium frame, convexity quasi concavity frames in choice and preference, production structures. It was fun understanding how game theory techniques for market behavior will help in developing decision making structures in finance. A study of assymetricity in information showed how modeling real time asymmetric parameters bring more realism into model building in interfaces of economics-finance- environment and engineering designs. My hobbies that emanated from pleasure and utility have been wide-ranging, thanks to my incentivized surrounding in which I grew up. My natural interests in arts, painting, cinema and script writing and later on sports and social work aligned me into a world of finance and phenomena/event valuation providing me a practical perspective to my hobbies. As I worked for the research team of Nirmaan, a NPO (Non-Profit Organization) and was able to lead two employment projects to completion and success, not only instilled in me the confidence for developing an idea, assessing the feasibility of the idea, its market potential, goal setting, budgeting, team leading, practical implementation but also provided an opportunity to apply financial decision techniques to everyday life. The modern world with its own set of problems both in terms of relative poverty and problems of plenty will need to look into areas of finance generation, monetary and capital market innovations and stability, distribution and use of worlds resources and its efficient scrutiny, use and control for a global optimum. An analytically strong research mind and aptitude is imperative to the world one will face and I know getting trained in your university will give me valuable hands-on confronting challenges pertaining to finance in a dynamic environment. It is to this end I believe my experience and expertise gained in institutions of eminence will nurture me to thrive in the corporate world. My passion in the vast realms of finance has become focused to Corporate Restructuring which Im currently working on and econometrics on which my academic projects at BITS are based on. Im at present doing extensive research on ways to bring Dual Listing opportunities in India thanks to the information databases and experienced guidance of senior executive officers National Stock Exchange of India Limited had provided me. The difference an efficiently undertaken Corporate Restructuring and the role a financial expert plays in facilitating business expansion fascinates me and prompts me to pursue a specialization in this field . Dr. Denis, David, Prof. Denis, Diane, Prof Faccio, Mara, Prof Xu, Jin research interests in Corporate Restructuring and Prof. Rau, Raghu research interest of market reactions to mergers and acquisitions remarkably outline my interest domain in which I yearn to specialize. I also found that the MS Finance Program at Krannert School of Management is very promising in shaping its pursuer into a financial wizard at his/her specialization. I hope my background and qualifications comply with admission requirements of this competitive course at your prestigious university.
