INTRODUCTION

Based on the title of this assignment. A field report had been conducted by me to the University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. To be specified ,UTHM library is choosed as the target area to conduct a report . University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia is one of the technical university in Malaysia. UTHM offers a wide range of disciplines in education comprising Engineering and technology, Technical and Vocational Education,Technology management,ICT and others. Currently,the university has six faculties and five centers with an enrolment of approximately 7,500 students pursuing education. The campus located in Batu Pahat, Johor. According to the student here in University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, library is one of the famous facilities provided by the administration. Thus, I decided to make a short trip in order to know the place better and found the interesting value that made the library so fundamental place been choosen by student here. Relating to the history of UTHM library which has begin the operating since 1993, but at that time the library is just build in small two-storey building. Now, since 2010 and present, the library had moved to the new building which has bigger capacity than before. This building has 16,000 square meters of floor area and can fill as many volumes of collections. The library is located at the back of University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia near the new mosque building and new faculties area. The library of UTHM is the most expensive building in Parit Raja area and largest library in the southest asia according to folks here. Thus, the library is the most appropriate place in conducting a trip because as we know the university development in various fields, especially in science and technology, has been intensified to support academic activities. In addition, the library is to said with unique structure of building architecture, beautiful landscap and great facilities. As for it I decided to conducted this trip in oder to complete my individual technical writing assessment .

OBJECTIVE

The aim for my trip is to know what is the facilities offered by the UTHM library located at the main campus of the university and to know about how this library operate and also gather information for the services provided to student. METHODOLOGY In order to gain information. I had done a few method in surveying the area choose which is University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia library. One of the method I use is by interviewing the stuff and student I meet in the library. I also took a walk around the building in order to observe what is there and did take some picture . The stuff being interview give futher explaination to me and gave me a journal and bulletin about the history and information about the library.

OBSERVATION RESULT From my reading, UTHM library building has 16,000 square meters of floor area and can fill as many as 300,000 volumes of collections. Besides that, the library building has a seating capacity of 3,000 users and it provides a spacious and conducive study environment with 100 carrel rooms, 40 discussion rooms, 2 seminar rooms, a post graduate research room, an auditorium, a closed reference room, a journal room and a 24 hours reading room. Here is my observation made :There is many facilities offered by the library. One of the most best saying by the student there is the library is 100 percent fully by air conditional . furthermore, I saw many type of room available to be occupy such as Iqra room, Hikmah and Eksplorasi room, seminar room, post graduate research room, customer service room, journal room, closed reference room, auditorium, open reading area, and gallery and exhibition area. The usually place users used is a 24 hours reading room that located on next to library entrance at level 1. And just besides this room there is locker corner where student can keep their stuff and belonging. Thus, in calculation the library is made up by 6 level. I also found one room especially for the photocopy work thats mean student can easily make a photocopy of book if they do not want to borrow it and also book drop borrowing machine. Besides that, the library is build with staircase for each floor and also lift facilities until the fourth floor. Student are not allowed to go until fifth floor as it only for stuff and lecturers entrance. And last but not less I experienced extremely fast internet connection for the uthmWIFI provide at the library. Thus ,the entire buiding is equip by free WIFI . There is also services I found in the library. The UTHM library gives services at the opening hours and we must manage our business at that time. Besides that we just only can use library on that time and if the student want to stay any longer they can always use the 24 hours study room. The

library is open from 8-11pm in the weekdays and 9-5pm on weekand and were closed on public holiday. But to respect the Friday prayer the library will be close at 12.45-2.45 pm every Friday. We can also borrow book by email manage system. The library provide online service if student want to extend the limit of time in borrowing book. Student will get notification by the email about all the detail in borrowing books. Besides that, uthm library also provide machine service in returning back the books. The machine is placed at student most hot spot visited area such a cafeteria, lecture building, and activities hall. Thus this will make student more easy without any que at the counter.

CONCLUSION As the conclusion, the trip is enjoyable as I can see the beautiful scenery of building and landscape and also all the great facilities and services . I also had borrow a few books so that I can experience the services by myself. And I hope I can use all the other facilities and services. The trip also gave me such a memorable moment when walking through the beautiful landscape with friend and I had a chance to read books that I borrowed there. I hope in future the University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia library will continue establish not only in asia but also world class quality.
