GPS Reflection

Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose. The purpose of our groups project was to let our community be aware of the dangers of the internet and how to be safe using the internet. We had to teach the parents about Sexting, Cyber bullying, and Social Networking. We had them take a survey asking them if they knew if their kids had face book or if they knew how to look up their computers history and most of the parents said no .That let us know that most of the parents in our community dont know what their children do on the internet. Our artifact was a parent forum we hosted as a group and presented as a group. We used a program called (Prezi) to help us in our presentation. Ms. Espinoza and Mr. Leandro also helped us in our parent forum.

(Please specifically refer to the indicators within each domain, and do not simply state that you Took Action or Communicated Ideas.) The GLPO(s) that were satisfied during completing this artifact was that I took action. I took action by making the flyer for the parent forum with my partner Abraham. I also took action by going with my group members to the other Vaughn school campuses and putting up posters of the parent forum. I also communicated ideas by giving my group ideas on how we can make our (Prezi) better and to get my ideas out to my group members. I collaborated across boundaries with my group members by reserving the MPR for the parent forum. We also went to the elementary school to get permission from the technical guys to help us set up the parent forum and to let us use their equipment.

3. What skills and concepts were learned in completing this artifact and how have these affected your future? The skills I learned in completing this project were to make bookmarks out of construction paper and small ribbons. I also learned how to take care of children in a separate room form the parent forum and to show them an entertaining movie. I also learned how to cooperate with my group and to make decisions that we all agree on. I learned how to think quickly and solve problems really fast when parent came in extra early to the forum. One concept I learned while completing this artifact was to be a role model for children and to influence them that sexting and cyber bullying is bad and they shouldnt be doing it.

4. Looking back on the completion of this artifact, what might you do differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product? Looking back at this project what I would have done to make this project better is that I would have spent more time working in this project with my group in our spare time. We could have also communicated a little bit better. It could have been better if we set up the MPR at least an hour earlier and all of our equipment should have been set up already. It could have also been better if many more parents went to our groups parent forum so that way they can learn what their children might be doing in the internet. It could have also been better if the whole group presented in the parent forum that way we learn how to speak upon a big group of people.
