Detailed Lesson Plan in Impromptu Speaking for Vocational Students (English Proficiency) I.

Objectives At the end of the class the students will be able to: 1. differenciate the use of past simple and past progressive 2. develop self-confidence through impromptu speech
3. present a five-minute impromptu speech using past tense

II. Materials 1. Marker/whiteboard 2. Projector 3. Speech rubric III. Subject Matter 1. Simple Past and Past Progressive IV. Learning Experience A. Set up and Prepare Copy the Speech Rubric printable for each student. Make a transparency of the Speech Rubric printable.

B. Motivation Let the students to watch the video using the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwMWQs6Yo9o C. Discussion Powerpoint presentation of Past tense and Past progressive

D. Develop self-confidence through Impromptu Speech

The students will have applied what we will discuss on how to build selfconfidence through an impromptu speech in front of the people. E. Impromptu Questions The students will answer the impromptu topics for 5 minutes using the past tense.

F. Assessment Observe students while they are having their speech. Take note of students who seem to be "quick thinkers" and those who experience difficulty .

G. Assignment

Brainstorm 3-5 topics of interest. Participate in a group activity, listening to, evaluating, and delivering an impromptu speech.

H. EVALUATE THE LESSON

Did students engaged in the activity? Did the Speech Rubric provide them with enough guidelines? Do students need more instructions before moving on to Lesson Two?
