Final grades will be determined according to the departments percentage to decimal conversion table (next page). A course average of 70% is required for successful completion of this course. ANGEL LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Student should have access to the internet. LWIT library & LWIT computer lab has internet access for students. It is expected that students will log on to the Angel LMS regularly (at least twice per week) to check for announcements, refer to study material, complete assignments & for online exams. Angel allows 120 minutes login per session. So for quizzes and exams keep that in mind. Start new session to start any exam to get 120 minute access. I have posted on Angel MDA chapter power points used in class. Note that the power points are a starting point to the class discussion; they do not capture everything we cover in class. You may want to print them out to save you some note-taking time in class. Lecture notes are also available online. READING AND HOMEWORK An estimated 2 hours per one hour of lecture is suggested for outside study time. Individual needs of the students may facilitate a change in this recommendation. Readings should be completed prior to the date listed on the syllabus. Students should come to class fully prepared to contribute to discussion and to ask questions generated by the reading. Student is responsible of reading required reading regardless if material is covered in lecture. Pop quizzes may be given at any time during class to test knowledge of reading/lecture material. COLLABORATIVE CLASSROOM PRESENTATION Each group will present a 15-20 minute presentation. Your report should be concise and as thorough as the resources and documentation allow. Note: five minutes per student MINIMUM. Each team members participation will be evaluated by peers. Take responsibility of your share of participation to get fair grade. Any student who does not participate fairly, then any team member can email me about it.

Many instructors are surprised that students feel uncomfortable approaching them. Your instructors are people just like everyone else and they teach because they genuinely care about students. Even if you feel a little shy, uncomfortable or embarrassed, ask for help. Below are some suggestions for meeting with your instructor. Dont Wait! Talking with your instructor sooner when issues arise is better. Dealing with a problem early in the term is more likely to be solved. The longer you wait the harder it is to deal with over time. Use the Instructors Office Hours Your instructors may have office hours specifically to talk to students; they should be listed on your class syllabus along with the instructors contact information. If your instructor doesnt have office hours ask if you can set up a time to meet. Also emailing the instructor a question is also a good way to make contact. Prepare for Your Meeting If you are anxious about talking with your instructor, write down a list of your questions before hand. Preparation will help you arrive with confidence to your meeting and will help you remember all the questions you need answered. If you are going to discuss grades, take class materials with you-youre graded work, lecture notes or your textbook. Be Specific Tell instructors if you are having difficulty in a class. You may think a poor grade speaks for itself but it doesnt. Be specific so your instructor can recommend strategies to help you. And dont be afraid to ask for clarification about comments your instructor has written on your assignments or tests. What do I say? If you arent sure what to ask your instructor, here are some conversation starters: Would you mind if I came during your office hours so I can ask you some questions? If you were a student in your class, what would you do to get an A? I am not getting the kind of grades I know I can in your class; what can I do to improve? Do you have suggestions about how to generate ideas for my paper in this class? May I ask a couple of questions about the homework assignment? What resources can you recommend to help me prepare for this class? What strategies do you recommend for getting ready for a test? Remember your instructors are here to help you, take the opportunity to ask for their assistance.
