BATCH PLANT

Batch plant is the older type of Hot Mixed Asphalt (HMA) production facilities. 1970s: drum plants became a popular HMA production option. Typical batch quantities range from 1.5 to 5 tons of HMA.

Batch plants are efficient in case of short production runs or delays in hauling, or when multiple types of mixes are required All the operations of the Batch Tower are all controlled in Control Room

Basic operations:

Component:
Cold feed bins: where the stockpiled aggregate is loaded for the delivery to the dryer Aggregate dryer: provides counterflow hot gas stream to the aggregates Primary collector: to removes large particles from the dryer exhaust gasses Secondary collector: to removes fine matter from the dryer exhaust gasses Hot elevator: to deliver aggregates to the screen deck.

Screen deck and hot bin: to separate various size of aggregates and temporarily stored until the amount required is accumulated. Pugmill: where the aggregate and asphalt is blended together (in batches) RAP bin: where the RAP is loaded. Storage silo: for the aggregate storage.
Surge: insulated but unheated (for several hours) Storage: insulated and heated (up to a week)
