ed Ell Dr lithy Term Project #1 m 1 (M Marks 5/20) The figure be elow shows a very simple power system with two vo m oltage levels a supplied by a single generator. and

e Course Code: ELE 423 EC

The power system has two voltage levels, 11k and 415V and is fed via a sing 4MVA g e kV V, d gle generator (G1). The 11kV bus has a standing load of 950k s kVA (S1) an we want t model the effects of starting a nd to e tor T s VA V plied by a 1 1.6MVA 250kW mot (M1). There is a standing load of 600kV at 415V (S2), supp transformer (TX1). The equipment and cable pa a arameters are as follows: e :

a. Construct System Model using EDSA to determine the voltage dip during motor starting. It is assumed that during motor starting, the initial source emf remains constant; that is, the power source does not react during the transient period. This is a simplifying assumption in order to avoid having to model the transient behavior of the power source. (3/20 Marks) b. Repeat part a using hand calculations. (2/20 Marks)
