Luke hands on the baton to Anna Teare

What do Jack Butler, Ellie Maffett, Lindsay Dale, Luke de Roemer and Anna Teare all have in common? They are all Emmanuel students / graduates who have spent the year after they graduate serving the LORD on the one year training scheme which UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship) runs. Known as RELAY, all of these Emmanuelites have grown massively in their faith as they have served the LORD amongst Bristol students. Anna Teare is the latest to receive the RELAY baton and starts in her new role in September. She explains what shes looking forward to: My time in Bristol has been an exciting period of growth in my love and understanding of Jesus. The Christian Union and church have played a huge part in this. I have learnt so much from serving the CU and benefitted from its support in developing and maintaining a passion for evangelism. As a result, I have had the privilege of seeing Jesus transform many lives over the last 3 years. I am really excited about a year working with UCCF who are great at supporting CUs across the country. Working with Bristol and Bath Spa CU's, alongside Becca, my supervisor, I am hoping that Ill be able to encourage Christian students to make the most of the great opportunities that university presents for them to live and speak for Jesus. Much of my work will be done through 1:2:1 bible studies and small group work with students. I am hoping that this year will help me to become better equipped to serve the church in the future, wherever God takes me. A further element to Relay is study, both core doctrines and an elective area- I am so excited about learning more about our wonderful God during my study periods. Anna is also getting married this summer so do remember her and her husband, Matt, in your prayers as they adapt to married life and the challenges of Anna doing student work and Matt doing his PGCE.
