Core Tasks A Network Security Administrator is required to perform the following tasks: Install, configure and administer Design and implement computer system security policies. Define and install the rules that support a security policy. Perform vulnerability, threat, and risk assessments for computer systems including networks. Identify and counter computer attacker methodologies.

Resolve computer system security vulnerabilities. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans. Evaluate and select security methods to provide a first level of security preparedness. Perform costbenefit analysis of security versus utility of different options for assuring computer system security. Monitor network security status.
Secondary/Optional Tasks Depending on an organizations environment and work structure and individual skill, a Network Security Administrator may perform the following tasks: Monitor network operational status. Manage network objects, user groups, users and services. Mentor junior Network Security Administrators.
Other Knowledge and Skills A Sun Network Security Administrator should possess the following knowledge and skills: High level of awareness of customer, business and user issues keep customer focus, the needs of internal users and the businesss security needs in mind when taking action or making decisions impacting service level agreements. Understand current and emerging technical trends in the area of computer systems security and be able to assist management in making security versus usability tradeoff decisions.
Education and Experience Minimum of post secondary education (e.g. Associates Degree in Computer or Network Technology) with at least 5 years experience as a Sun systems Administrator or Manager. Required Training Successful completion of the following courses are required for a Network Security Administrator
