Dear Friends Members who subscribe to the RSGBs DX News Sheet (DXNS) will know by now that I have been appointed the new editor, following the resignation of G4DYO. Within half an hour of returning to the UK from the USA after the Washington Dinner, the RSGB rang me and asked if I was interested in not only editing the DXNS, but printing it as well. It must have been the jet lag that made me say yes! My first edition appears this week and it is also intended to publish a monthly DX News Magazine (DXNM). I will ensure that FOC members are kept up to date with the latest information about DXing. I have used the appointment to justify getting on to the Internet. THE AL SLATER, G3FXB MEMORIAL TROPHY by G4BUE

A WEEKEND IN PRAGUE by OK1CZ

On Saturday 23rd July a small amateur radio rally will be taking place at the Czech Technical University in Prague. I am one of the organisers and we expect about 200 amateurs to attend, including Chris, G4BUE. I will be holding an FOC

Open House on the Sunday and will be pleased to welcome any other FOCers who will be in Prague during this period. I have some accommodation available in our guest house which I will hold for FOC members until the 16th June. I will supply more information on request.

The funds in hand include all subscriptions that have just been paid and this money has to pay for all the expenditure during the year, as no more income will be received until subscriptions are paid at the end of 1995. AA5DX: Ron caught malaria recently. and was back home recovering. DL2HQH: Joe had a successful season on 160m netting 9M2AX, XX9X, VS6WV, VK9CR, KC6CW and 9X/ON4WW for new ones with his shunt fed tower. DL8CT: Hel will be QRV as CT1VX for several weeks from the 9th June. G4BJM: Congratulations to Barbara and Fraser on their third harmonic, Laura. G3RTE: Jim will be QRV from Rathlin Island (EU-122) on the 24/25th June. G4SFO: Norman stayed with LA1IE recently and found Ottos keeness helped to rejuvenate the parts I cannot reach. K2VUI: Joe will be joining K1RH on board the Eagle from 30th June (see last months News Sheet). N4AR: A tornado came through Bills back yard and destroyed all his antennas over 100 feet, including the big 40m yagi that went back up last year after the ice storm, and the new 24el 20m array. OH2KI: With the President of SRAL, OH2BU, Jorma and OH2BDP ran OH2H, the demonstration station in Helsinki for representatives of the North Korean Embassy, during the first QSOs made from P5, North Korea on the 14th May. SMOIG: Olle hopes to be QRV from their summer cottage in the Roslagen Archipelago Islands as SM5OIG.. VP2MT: Ursula will be in the UK (01260 271505) between 13th June and 7th November using her GIHM call. W1NV/GVLW: Carl is in the UK until mid-November at Lymington in Hampshire (01590 675433), and wonders if a local member can loan him a rig.
