All donations stay local in our community by supporting the Foley Cancer Center and local cancer patients. Also to help support family care givers and to raise awareness to improve the quality of life for patients and their families living with the struggles of brain and other types of cancers. We need your support. So please join us, Saturday, July 21, 2012 for the 5th Annual Gayle Sheldon Memorial Ride & Fun Day! Riders can pre-register at Dan Turco & Sons YAMAHA or the morning of the ride at the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland (use the Park St. gate entrance) between 8:30 am to 9:45 am. Free Coffee at morning registration. To participate in the ride, the suggested donation is $20 per Rider/Driver plus $10 for each passenger. This ride will depart from Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:00 am. We will complete an estimated 100 mile round trip ride. The Red Knights, Vt. Chapter III will coordinate and lead the ride. After the ride, which will end back at the Vermont State Fairgrounds, there will be a BBQ Pig Roast, with many homemade dishes of summertime favorites. Live remote from 101.5 The Fox. Entertainment from Dusty Rose and Middle River Gospel Bands, a Rock Climbing Wall donated by the U.S. Army, Humvee, and a Free Gift for the first 100 participants. All this and much, much more with your suggested donation. The gates are open to the general public to join Free of charge. Please come one, come all to hear your favorite music or to try your luck at climbing the rock wall and to participate in many of our other activities. If you want to join us for the Pig Roast and fixings, the suggested donatio is $10 per adult (15 & up) and $5 for children (14 & under.) Wayne Ferguson ( a lifetime resident of Whitehall, NY) and partner, Don Valentine (of Argyle, NY), opened their Amish sheds shop, The Shed Stop, on March 31, 2012, at 11311 State Route 149 in Fort Ann, NY, where they began selling Amish sheds of all kinds. A-frames, dutch barns, dog houses, chicken coops, run-ins, garages, horse barns, pool houses, pole barns, camps (log and cedar), gazebos, pergolas, pavilions, quakers, and more! Their business has sky-rocketed. We asked Wayne why he thought the business became so successful in such a short time. (Wayne has been a shed salesman for others since 2005, so he has some expertise in the field) He replied: We insist upon stocking well built and well designed sheds. We then sell these quality buildings at prices that are within our customers range. We dont try to make a years pay off of each sale. And, we provide attentive service. We are open 7 days a week for our customers convenience, and we deliver within 60 miles at no extra charge! In addition to sheds, Wayne and Don also stock outdoor polly, cedar and wood furniture, such as Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, deck dining sets, swings, rockers, gliders. The poly furniture comes with a lifetime warranty.. Need a grain bin for the horse barn you just bought? The Shed Stop has em. They also stock wooden tool chests (some big ones, too), tack organizers, saddle cabinets (gotta keep em clean), work benches and other useful items of quality. They also sell misters. Youll have to inquire about what they are. Assisting Wayne and Don are family members and part time employees. Waynes wife Karyn and son Joe help out. Dons wife Mary, daughters Samantha and Megan, and sons Mitchell and Nick also make valuable contributions of time. Part timers include Michael Pagels (pictured above on the front porch of a summer camp, available at The Shed Stop) and Joelle Diamond. The Valentines and Fergusons also sell 16 flavors of Giffords ice cream in their adjunct ice cream shop. They also offer 3 flavors of soft ice cream for your enjoyment. The ice cream shop is open noon til 9pm daily. The Shed Stop is open 9am9pm Monday through Saturday. Sunday they open at noon til 9pm. You may call them at 518-639-3055 or view their inventory on line at Facebook. Be sure to stop in, and let them know we suggested it! Located at the intersection of Northside Drive and Hardwood Hill Road, LaFlammes, Inc. occupies the former Haynes & Kane Furniture building that was known for quality furniture for many years. Christopher LaFlamme, Jr., along with the the historical preservation society and Bennington officials has obtained permission to rebuild the chair. LaFlammes investment in the property and community goes far beyond the chair, however. The 12,500-square-foot structure has been completely renovated while maintaining its character and charm. LaFlammes wife and business partner, Angela (Coyne) LaFlamme, grew up in Bennington. She and her husband, who was raised in nearby Hoosick Falls, NY, feel this expansion into Bennington is a bit like coming home , Making an investment here and doing it right was very important to both of us. The spacious, beautifully-appointed store is now filled with an extensive inventory to suit all tastes, styles and budgets. LaFlammes offers top brand name furniture, flooring, electronics, appliances, and mattresses at great prices. We opened quietly about a month ago and the response has been very positive, stated Christopher LaFlamme, Jr. This is our fourth store in the region and we have put a great deal of effort into making it really special for our customers. The other three locations, in Cambridge, Granville and Whitehall, NY, will participate in Benningtons celebration by offering the same grand opening specials to their customers from July 28 through August 4th.
