ProCash 3100

The solution for all self-service cash transactions

ProCash 3100 is available in an extensive range of configurations: I as a dispensing system I as a deposit system I for both dispensing and deposit I for both dispensing and deposit with closed cash circulation (Cash Recycling System) The ProCash 3100 allows all cash transactions, including the dispensing and deposit of coins as well as banknotes, to be handled in a bank's self-service zone. In addition to dispensing transactions, which are offered around the clock by conventional automated teller machines, deposits can be made by private and business customers outside normal banking hours. The ProCash 3100 counts the deposited cash and checks it for forgeries, tasks which no longer have to be performed as part of deposit follow-up during bank opening hours. This automation of routine work helps to save costs. The customer, too, benefits considerably from use of this system compared with the current night safe, for instance. He is provided with immediate feedback about the sum he has deposited, thereby enabling the amount to be credited to his bank account without delay.

I Cash deposit and dispensing are combined in a

function as yet unparalleled in the market with the ProCash 3100 Cash Recycling System. The system makes deposited banknotes available again for cash dispensing. Time-consuming and costly filling and emptying procedures are thus kept to a minimum, as is tedious follow-up of the deposited cash.

This automation of routine work helps to save costs. Protection of investment by savings potential The savings potential is that high that investment in a ProCash 3100 pays back within a very short period, especially if the recycling function is implemented. Making the deposited cash available for dispensing transactions considerably prolongs filling intervals. This function already is implemented successfully in various countries throughout Europe, except Germany. There the Deutsche Bundesbank (German central bank) has an agreement with the financial institutions that only Central Bank tested money shall be dispensed by self-service systems. For that reason the German Central Bank does not accept the recycling functionality.

Comparison of cash dispensing and cash deposit

The ProCash 3100 opens up a new technical dimension in comparison with conventional automated teller machines. This becomes apparent when the cash deposit function is compared with the cash dispensing function (see figure above). These two aspects alone are indicative of the fact that a deposit system must meet much more stringent requirements, and as a result is a much more complex system than a conventional automated teller machine. All the more so since the ProCash 3100 combines a conventional automated teller machine and a deposit function in a single system. In cases where the recycling function is implemented, an additional quality test is used to ensure that the banknotes provided for dispensing are genuine, as well as of good quality. Poor-quality banknotes which are no longer suitable for circulation are taken out of circulation and stored in a deposit cassette. The automated deposit function has to meet extremely stringent requirements, especially as far as the processing of poorquality banknotes is concerned. However, it has been demonstrated in both numerous test runs and productive operation that the ProCash 3100 can successfully process banknotes which have often jammed counting machines during follow-up.

Optimum ProCash 3100 operation If a bank is to profit from the economic benefits provided by the ProCash 3100 and if it expects its customers to take full advantage of the new services on offer, it must be aware of the fact that a complex system of this type requires more "support" than a conventional automated teller. The following main points should be observed to ensure optimum ProCash 3100 operation:
I The ProCash 3100 will only operate to

its maximum potential if customers are provided with specific instructions in its functions and operation. The bank should be responsible for providing this instruction to users in person when the system is initially introduced. We will be happy to supply you with templates to help you design your bank's own promotional material and operating aids.

poor-quality banknotes, this increases the likelihood of a jam in the system. Deposited banknotes should thus be inserted carefully in accordance with the operating instructions: Foreign bodies must be removed, badly damaged banknotes taken out of the bundle, and folds or kinks smoothed out before the bundle is placed loosely, not pressed tightly together, in the middle of the tray. Through the integrated metal recognition facility in the input hopper, foreign bodies such as coins and paper clips can be detected before they cause a jam.

be adapted to the cash flow at the site of installation. Wincor Nixdorf can support the relevant evaluations.

The ProCash 3100 with IDmarker The difficulties posed in Germany by the requirements stipulated in 36 of the Bundesbank statutes are obviated by use of an IDmarker. The forgery sensor integrated in the ProCash 3100 reliably removes from circulation any counterfeit money and money suspected of being forged. The IDs of these banknotes are registered using the IDmarker, and logged together with the transaction, thus ensuring that it can be traced.
