Drillers Choice: While not a phase, Drillers Choice continues the For Drillers by Drillers standard; competitors vote for their favorite Drillers peformance. NOTE: During the day of the event, competitors MUST NOT leave the drill area with the rifle uncased. Doing so will get you disqualified from the event. If you do not have a rifle that meets the Eligible Equipment list, above, borrow one if possible.
4. JUDGING:
The DrillMaster Summer Competition Seriessanctioned competitions employ the World Drill Associations adjudication system created by John Marshall, The DrillMaster. The system is a fairly new method that provides a different approach to standard judging. It thoroughly dissects a Drillers performance by giving each judge a different aspect of the performance to judge. While every DrillMaster Summer Competition Series event may differ slightly, WDA judging is a requirement. For competitions that cannot get certified judges, here is a great option: have each Driller take on a judging position and have the positions rotate throughout so that each Driller gets a chance to see what each caption is like. Its a great crash course in visual adjudication. Judging consists of the following captions: 1. Overall Effect 2. Composition Analysis 3. Equipment Page 3 of 8 22 Jul 12
Timing and Penalties: Timing and judging start at the Drillers first movement. Timing and judging end when the Driller fully crosses the competition area boundary line on exit. Time: o Solo: 2-3 minutes. o Tandem: 3-5minutes. Drill Area: (see diagram) o Solo and Tandem: 30x30 feet o Competitors are given the choice of entering and exiting the drill area from any position or starting inside the drill area. Point Deductions (see also the Timing and Penalties score sheet) o Any part of the competitors body or rifle passing the boundary. o Drop- equipment leaves the hands completely. o Hit- equipment leaves the hands (not a toss or throw), but is immediately recovered. Reporting: o In: All Drillers must report in with first and last name and affiliation (if applicable) o Out: Not required (no extra points for reporting-out).
Uniform: DrillMaster Summer Competition Series Drill Meets represent nothing other than the art and love of drill. Though a uniform is optional, those who do wish to wear one (or a coordinated outfit) may be able to impact their Overall Effect score. A creative uniform is highly suggested! Drillers who choose to wear a uniform must not in any way represent any branch of service, country or uniformed organization (unless given specific permission which must be presented in writting). Driller should present him/herself in a professional manner. Everything is up to your imagination.

6. THE HISTORY
The New York Drill Competition was the brain child of Michael Ian Solero. After noticing a tremendous amount of drill team alumni attending a local drill competition to support their school, he realized that a huge percentage of them were interested in competitive drill after high school. With the help of Randy Sukhai he initiated the first competition in 2008. Darren Wang eventually joined to make an unstoppable trio! DrillMaster is indebted to Michael, Randy and Darren for employing the World Drill Association judging and DrillMaster support!
