The marking is to be carried out in such a way that it is visible, legible and indelible throughout the anticipated life of the product, and that the marks can be traced back to the Type approval certificate.
1.4.1 Visual inspection By visual inspection, it is to be verified that the test sample (e.g. prototype) is in conformity with the approved plans. 1.4.2 Electrical/mechanical tests The tests are to be according to the relevant parts of the following Sec.2, table of type tests. 1.4.3 Environmental tests Tests related to endurance and reliability of the product on board ships, e.g. vibration test, should take account of the environmental strains on board vessels. 1.4.4 How to pick out test samples The DNV surveyor at DNV Hvik shall normally pick out 4 samples of each cable type to be covered by the type approval according to the list in Sec.2 of the application form (the smallest and the largest, and 2 sizes in between). Cable types of almost equal construction (e.g. same insulation material and same sheath materials but different braiding materials, or without braiding or without outer sheath) may be specially considered with regard to total number of sizes to be picked out for tests. 1.4.5 Production Sample Test (PST) The production sample test is performed as random tests at suitable intervals in order to ensure that products from subsequent production conform to result of type tests, ensuring "equal production". These tests are normally carried out by the manufacturer unless stated on the Type Approval certificate. 1.4.6 Routine Tests (RT) The routine tests constitute the final production control and the manufacturers standard RT are to be described in the submitted documentation. This tests is normally carried out by the manufacturer unless stated on the Type Approval certificate.
