TM 9-1005-222-12P/2 contains alist of repair parts and special tools allocated to using organizations. FM 23-5 contains operating and lubricating instructions for the materiel. c. Data
The rifles Ml, MlC (Snipers) and MlD (Snipers) (figs. l-l, l-3 andl-5) are gasoperated, clip-fed, air-cooled, semiautomatic shoulder weapons. The rifles are designed to accommodate either bayonetknife M5 or M5A1, the grenade launcher M7A3 and grenade launcher sight Ml5 and winter trigger kit (fig. l-7). For convenience of maintenance and repair, the rifles are divided into groups and assemblies as indicated in figures l-2, l-4 and l-6.

6-1. General The rifles must meet the limits of serviceability as indicated by the repair standards in chapter 7. Gaging is limited tc those dimensions that are critical or that may be m&e advantageously measured than repaired. 6-2. Visual Inspection Overall appearance will be approximately that of a new weapon. All exposed metal surfaces are to have adull, rust resistant finish with no burs or deep scratches. Barrels must be straight, clean, free of rust, powder fouling, bulges, cracks and r i n gs. All applicable modifications must be applied. The serialnumbersmust be legible.
