Jesus Christ is the Son of God

Point #1: We do not ask WWED (What would Elijah do), we do not ask WWMD (What would Moses do, we ask WWJD because Jesus is our example and He is the final authority in how we should act and behave. 1. Hebrews 1:1-3 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. The Son radiates Gods own glory and expresses the very character of God a. Elijah vs. Jesus (Luke 9, II Kings 1) 1.Elijah in II Kings 1commands fire down from heaven upon Ahaziahs men. 2.When the disciples ask Jesus if he wants to command fire down to destroy the Samaritan village he rebukes them and says For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. Point #2: We are not to blindly believe that just any man that claims to be the son of God is the son of God. No, Jesus proved who He was time and time again by fulfilling prophecies and walking in truth. It was not only by walking in healing and power that He proved who He was but by fulfilling prophecy. 2. Are you the messiah weve been expecting or should we keep looking for someone else? Luke 7:21 a. Jesus proved who He was time and time again by fulfilling prophecies and walking in truth. Point #3: Jesus is the only man to ever walk the Earth that was truly led all the days of his life by God our Father. He is the final authority in dealing with conflict and persecution because he dealt with everything the right way. 3. Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! John 14:9 a. Everything Jesus said and did, God was leading him to say and do. Point #4: If you want to know God and his character or how he thinks, no longer do you only look to the Old Testament, the Law or the Prophets. Now God is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is unchanging, perfectly consistent but the Law & the Prophets could not totally accurately express God and His character. So God sent His Son (both physically & spiritually) and in His Son, God revealed himself to His people, to His children. 4. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation Colossians 1:15 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ Colossians 1:19 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body Colossians 2:9 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who dont believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They dont understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! Philip said, Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied. Jesus replied, Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still dont know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Dont you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. John 14:6-10 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates Gods own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Hebrews 1:1-3 For God, who said, Let there be light in the darkness, has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
