INTRODUCTION

This document contains information on installing and troubleshooting Brava! Reader. Brava! Reader is user-friendly software that views and prints XDL, TIFF, PDF, JPG, XPS, and IGCs own CSF (Content Sealed Format) files. CSF is created by our Net-It publishing products, which incorporates IGCs Visual Rights persistent security controls, including password protection, onscreen banners, print and other feature restrictions, redaction (block out), and more. Brava! Reader runs as a Windows desktop application or as an ActiveX component inside a web page. It also has a complete API so it can easily be embedded in another application. Please reference the API interface document (bravaReader_InterfaceDetails.pdf) included in your Brava! Reader installation directory).

CUSTOMIZING BRAVA! READER

Myrdrv.ini Brava Reader recognizes supported file formats, their file extensions, and any related parameters through the Myrdrv.ini file configuration. Please see the Myrdrv.ini_UserGuide.pdf contained in your Brava! Reader installation directory for a complete list of parameters and descriptions.

API integration Brava! Reader runs as a Windows desktop application or as an ActiveX component inside a web page. It also has a complete API so it can easily be embedded in another application. See the BravaReader_API_Interface_Details.pdf document for detailed information.

ViewerConfig.xml This XML file is generated by the system the first time a user closes a Brava Reader session and stores the UI settings that can be persisted from session to session. This file should not be edited by endusers, but certain features can be edited (carefully) by advanced users who are kowledgeable about XML to set advanced options

Disable Update Messaging and other Viewer Options A setting is available for administrators to disable expiration warning messages if desired. The following key can be edited in the ViewerConfig.ini file and then placed on the network. The config file is located in the <user application data directory>\IGC\Brava! Reader directory. Note that this location may be different, depending on which operating system you are running. For example, on XP the ViewerConfig.xml is in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\IGC\Brava! Reader And on a Windows 7 machine the location is: C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\IGC\Brava! Reader\ViewerConfig.xml Before editing this file, it is recommended that you place a backup copy of the original file in another directory location. <License> <NoWarnOnExpiration>false</NoWarnOnExpiration> </License>

If the value is set to true, the expiration remainder period warnings are not displayed. If the key is set to false, the warning messages display. Note that this key does not affect the actual expiration date. When the product has reached its expiration date, an error message displays regardless of the NOWarnOnExpiration value. Additional customization options can be configured in this Viewer configuration file if you are running Brava Reader as an Administrated application for end-users.

NOTES

Differences between Brava! Reader and Brava Java Client: Brava Java Client communicates with Brava Server for all file IO (excluding "OffLine Mode"). Brava! Reader uses local file system or URLl for all file IO (has no "OnLine Mode"). Brava! Reader is only able to open markup for review. Brava! Reader is not able to burn-in markup to create new .csf. Brava! Reader uses a default extension of .xrl for all markup files. Brava! Reader always enables the pan mouse tool upon successful load of a file. Brava! Reader uses an interval of 0 to 360 degrees for all angular measurement. Brava! Reader contains a splash screen containing links to live web sites. Brava! Reader is by default licensed and able to open only .tif, .xdl, .pdf and .csf files. Brava! Reader modifies the registry to cause IE to use Brava Reader to open in "full page mode" whenever IE browses to a .tif, .xdl, .pdf, .jpf, .xps, or .csf file. In addition to .xdl and .csf files, Brava Reader will associate itself with .pdf, .xps, .jpg, .tif, and .tiff files.
