INVITATION
The Mycological Society of the Philippines, Inc. cordially invites you to attend the 11th Annual Scientific Meeting and Symposium. This years theme focuses on the important role of fungi that is either beneficial or detrimental to agriculture and humankind. They can cause widespread death of individual or elimination of plant species due to diseases caused by them. As a consequence, some fungi literally are believed to have altered the course of history and also have affected social customs both at the regional and global scale. Over the years, however, cure of illnesses and protection of our important crops have been discovered using a combination of approaches through the use of fungi like VAM, Trichoderma, and others, fungal products like Ganoderic acid, triterpenoids and naturally-occurring weakened or hypovirulent strains of the causal fungus.

LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION

The Cavite State University is located at Indang, Cavite. You can take a bus from Lawton or MRT bus station going to Dasmarinas, then ride a bus or jeepney going to Indang. You can also take buses from Baclaran to Indang. One way fare is around P100. From Manila, it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach Indang due to some traffic conditions.

CALL FOR PAPERS

MSP members and interested participants are invited to send in their papers for consideration for oral and poster presentations. Papers must contain new information that has not been presented in any scientific conference in the Philippines. Submissions should conform with the following guidelines: 1. The paper deals with fungi. 2. At least one of the authors is a regular MSP member or incoming member. 3. Paper should contain Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and Literature Cited. 4. Title of the paper should be in bold faced capital letters & centered with text for the whole paper in 12 point Times New Roman. Maximum of 15 pages. 5. Name(s) of author(s) centered with two- line space from the title; presenters name underlined. 6. Author(s) affiliation centered and one-line space from the name(s) of the author(s); if more than one author, use superscript numbers to indicate affiliation. 7. Indicate if the paper is for oral or poster presentation. If for oral presentation, indicate if competing or not. All poster papers will be considered for competition. 8. Submit four hard copies and an electronic copy written using MS Office Word. The deadline for submission of all papers is on March 16, 2009. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by March 30, 2009.
