PREFACE

This Standard was prepared by the Standards Australia Committee, CH/1, for Laboratory
Glassware and Related Apparatus, under the direction of the Multitechnics Standards Policy
Board.
The objective of this Standard is to specify the performance of an automatic type of sugar
polarimeter for use in the analysis of sugar cane juices, sugars and sugar products. This
Standard is a revision of AS K157—1968, Automatic sugar polarimeter.
This edition is based on a submission from CSR Limited whose Central Laboratory was
responsible for most of the work in developing the specification.
The term ‘informative’ has been used in this Standard to define the application of the
appendix to which it applies. An ‘informative’ appendix is only for information and
guidance.
