The Bread of Life..We symbolize

feeding upon the broken body of Christ whenever we take communion. The act of communion is not only to remind us of Christ sacrificial death, but to draw the parallel between nurturing our physical bodies and the need to nurture our spiritual bodies. Since Christ is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). The symbolic eating of the body of Christ at communion is a representation of the eating of the Word of God. Christ confirmed this spiritual principle when he said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). For this word of God to achieve the purpose of which it was sent by God it has to be accepted as truth by the hearers. Hebrews 4:2 establishes this principle when referring to the failure of the Children of Israel to enter into the Promised land: For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did , but the message they heard was of no value to them because those who heard did not combine it with faith When the word of God is absorbed into our being and mixed with faith , it will produce the blessings it commands If we are to grow spiritually into the image of Christ we must eat the spiritual food he ate which is the Word of God. Learn scriptures, meditate upon them and God has promised that these words will achieve the purpose for which they were sent Is 55:11 Bruce G.
