Strategy for RUS deployment

1- Background:
Ericsson has announced last time buy for Flamingo BTS and has introduced RUS BTS. RUS BTS has few advantages/Limitations over Flamingo BTSs:

2- Advantages:
Better Sensitivity of Radio Unit Support Receiver sensitivity of (-113) dbm against (-104) dbm of flamingo Reduced Number of GSM Antennas Support 8 number of TRX with Single 2 port GSM Antenna against 4 TRX in Flamingo. Higher Configuration in single Cabinet: Max TRX possible in single Cabinet is (24 TRX (2G) + 12 TRX (3G) +12 TRX (LTE)). Reduced Power requirements: Power requirements are less as compared to Flamingo BTS Reduced Foot Prints: Foot Prints requirements are less Compared to Flamingo BTS with Higher Configuration.

3- Limitations:
TCC Feature Not Supported: TCC feature is not supported by RUS hence at existing TCC sites cannot be used. TRX SW Configuration in BSCs Against the Total number of TRX in BTS, BSC SW also needs to be configured. Minimum Configuration Minimum Configuration in one sector will be 4 TRX. Following are the Model Types of RUS BTS: 1- RUS 6101 (outdoor 48V) ( 900/1800 MHZ ) Max configuration (Dual Band: RUS): 3x4 + 3x4 (6 Radio units; 2 Digital Units) 2- RUS 6202 (Indoor 48V) ( 900/1800 MHZ ) Max configuration (Dual Band: RUS): 3x4 + 3x4 (12 Radio units; 2 Digital Units) 3- RUS 6201 (Indoor 48V) ( 900/1800 MHZ ) Max configuration (Dual Band: RUS): 3x8 + 3x8 (12 Radio units; 2 Digital Units) 4- RUS 6601 (Indoor 48V) ( 900/1800 MHZ ) Max configuration (Dual Band: RUS) : 3x4 + 3x4 (6 Remote Radio units ; 2 Digital Units )

4- Technical Details about RUS:

Following are the Major building Blocks of RUS BTS: 1- Multi standard Radio Unit (RUS) 1 RUS unit support 4 TRX HW Supports 2 Technologies simultaneously. RX Sensitivity -117.8 dBm 2- Digital Unit for GSM (DUG) Controls upto 12 TRX For > 12 TRX additional DUG in sync with additional DUG. 3- Power supply unit (PSU)

5- BOQ of RUS BTS:

Based on BOQ study following are the major observations: 1- Hardware available will be in the granularities of 4, however actual configuration will be controlled by SW licenses in the BSC. 2- All Interfaces at RUS BTS which needs to be connected to GSM/MW system are similar to that of flamingo BTS. Hence no changes are required at Jumper/feeder etc. 3- Power requirements of BTS are less as compared to Flamingo hence similar Power cable used of Flamingo BTS Power supply (2 core 6 sq mm for Indoor and 35 sq mm for Outdoor) can be used with RUS BTS types respectively. 4- Sync cables (Cables connecting 2 BTS at same sites) are not part of BOQ and if needed, needs to be mentioned separately in BOQ and will be delivered FOC. 5- 1 PCM Cable with 2 E1s capacity will be delivered along with BTS till 4+4+4 Configuration and 2 PCM Cables will be delivered along with 6+6+6 or higher configuration.

6- High Level Deployment strategy & Factors affecting the deployment of RUS: 1. RUS BTS will be deployed only on Planned Cabinet expansions in FY-13 and High Traffic Sites(>10 TRX <=12 TRX) .
a. Saving of additional GSM & Feeder Cables accessories for configuration beyond 12 TRX. b. Saving on additional foot print and Power requirements.

c. Maximum utilization of available Hardware with RUS BTS.

2. RUS BTS will be deployed specific Areas and not spread across .
a. Spare management with minimum approved Spares. b. In , Majority of high traffic sites are in specific regions & major rollout is also proposed in these area hence reverse logistics can be managed effectively.

3. RUS BTS will not be deployed on high traffic sites with 2104/2106 BTS.
2104/2106 are bulky O/D BTS, hence damage free transportations and utilization of these BTS on other sites is a challenge.

4. RUS BTS will not be deployed on high traffic sites with TCC TMA.
RUS BTS does not support TCC features (gives gain of 3 db DL) hence replacing Flamingo BTS with RUS will cause coverage degradation.

5. RUS BTS will not be deployed on New Town sites planned in FY-13. To ensure maximum utilization of available HW.

7- Plan for deployment of RUS: Plan for Cabex: 1- Based on the above high level deployment strategy all planned 203 Cabex were divided in following 2 groups.

Total Cabex Planned in FY-13 203

At Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS) 134 BTS TYPE O/D I/D Count 21 113

At Non-Top 14 Location +TCC/2104/2106 BTS 69 BTS TYPE O/D I/D Count 49 20

a- Cabex at Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS) All these sites will be running with 4, 4, 4 configurations. At all these Cabex will be done by swapping of existing BTS with RUS (6+6+6). 1 Flamingo BTS with (4,4,4) configuration will be freed from each Site after swapping . Freed BTS from these 134 Sites (113 Indoor and 21Outdoor) will be used on New Sites or Cabex at Non-Top 14 Location +TCC/2104/2106 BTS sites, as per required
Configurations (2,2,2) or (4,4,4).

Left out loose DRU/DTRU will be used for upgrade on existing sites.

b- Cabex at Non-Top 14 Location +TCC/2104/2106 BTS 20 I/D Cabex will be done with I/D Flaming BTS freed after Cabex at Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS) . Out of 49, 21 O/D Cabex will be done with 21 O/D Flamingo BTS freed after Cabex at Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS) . For pending 34 Cabex additional Flamingo BTS are required, for which additional swapping without Cabex needs to be done. ** Top 14 Locations are the locations with maximum number of planned Cabinet expansions among these 203 Sites. 2- Plan for BTS Deployment at New Sites: Below is the breakup of New Sites planned in FY-13.

Total Sites Planned in FY-13 300

O/D (All NA+30% FI) 227

I/D (70% FI) 73

a- Indoor New Sites All Indoor sites (73) will be done with freed flamingo BTS after Cabex at 113 Sites at Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS). After utilizing 73 I/D for New Sites and 20 BTS for Cabex at (Non-Top 14 Location
+TCC/2104/2106BTS) 20 Indoor BTS will be left out and can be used as buffer against IP Vendors limitations of ID/OD.

b- Outdoor New Sites As all 21 O/D BTS freed after Cabex at Top 14 Location (except TCC/2104/2106 BTS)
are utilized for Cabex at (Non-Top 14 Location +TCC/2104/2106 BTS) hence for new Outdoor sites additional swapping needs to be done.

3- Plan for RUS BTS Deployment for Swapping:

Total Freed Flamingo BTS after Cabex with RUS

134

Freed O/D BTS 21

Required for Cabex without RUS Required for New Sites Total Required Possible swappable Sites with > 10 TRX at Top 14 L Additional Requirement of BTS 49 227 276 193 62

Freed I/D BTS 113

Required for Cabex without RUS Required for New Sites Total Required Possible swappable Sites with > 10 TRX at Top 14 L Additional Requirement of BTS 20 73 93 NR -20

a- Outdoor BTS
More number O/D Flamingo BTS are required than the freed available BTS after Cabex with RUS. BTS swapping of existing 2954 BTS with Outdoor RUS BTS 6101(4,4,4) is to be done for sites with > 10 TRX in Top 14 engineer location. After this swapping 1 O/D Flamingo BTS with minimum 5 DRUs will be freed at each site. These BTS will be used for New Sites & pending O/D Cabex as (2,2,2) configuration. Rest of the DRUs will be utilized for upgrades on exiting sites with DRU/DTRU. For pending additional BTS requirements (62), O/D Flamingo Cabinets to be ordered. These Cabinets will be used as (2,2,2) configuration BTS for New town rollout.

** 70 number of 2954 BTS has been approved with 2+2+2 configuration against these Cabinets. b- Indoor BTS
As Number of Indoor BTS freed after Cabex with RUS are higher as compared to the requirement, hence No additional swapping of indoor BTS is required. ** As many of the freed Flamingo 2954 BTS (approx 52%) require power supply of -24 V and at New Sites IPs are only providing -48 V Supply, hence to reutilize these BTS DC-DC converter from -48V to -24V have been proposed. 1- Performance of different vendors needs to be evaluated for procurement. 2- Power Rating Needs to be clearly mentioned on SRN of Flamingo BTS to ensure proper segregation in Warehouse.
