Committee SF/43, High Pressure Water Safety. It was approved on behalf of the
Council of Standards Australia on 31 May 1999 and on behalf of the Council of
Standards New Zealand on 18 May 1999. It was published on 5 July 1999.

PREFACE

This Standard was prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand
Standards Committee SF/43, High Pressure Water Safety.
The purpose of this Standard is to provide manufacturers and users with the minimum
requirements for equipment and associated componetry for high pressure water jetting
systems.
The term ‘normative’ has been used in this Standard to define the application of the
appendix to which it applies. A ‘normative’ appendix is an integral part of a Standard.

S E C T I O N 1 S C O P E A N D G E N E R A L

1.1 SCOPE This Standard sets out requirements for the design, construction testing,
inspection and safeguarding of high pressure water jetting systems.

1.2 OBJECTIVE The objective of this Standard is to provide manufacturers and


suppliers with a clear statement of the minimum requirements for equipment and
associated componentry for high pressure water jetting systems.

1.3 APPLICATION This Standard provides requirements for high pressure water
jetting systems with an output capability greater than 800 bar litres per minute and less
than 5600 bar litres per minute (identified as Class A) and systems with an output
capability in excess of 5600 bar litres per minutes (identified as Class B.)
Guidance for safe operation and maintenance of pressurized water jetting systems is not
covered by this Standard but is given in AS/NZS 4233.1.
