Solution for Barracuda 7200.11 drives

stays BUSY (LBA detected as 0)
The new feature for Barracuda 7200.11 has been tested for two months and is proved to be effective
in repairing such malfunction of Barracuda 7200.11. Now as usual we release the update for free.

Please follow the procedures below:

1. First you need to remove the PCB from HDA case and connect it to the HD Doctor Console. Power
supply to the PCB should be on

2. Go to CMD mode, use command “Ctrl+Z” to switch the command line prompt to be F3 T>, as
follow:

3. Input command “/2”, press Enter; switch the drive to Level 2.

4. Input command “Z” and press Enter to stop spindle motor.

5. Then mount the PCB back to HDA case; DO NOT power off or disconnect the PCB from the HD
Doctor Console when doing this step.

6. In CMD mode, under F3 2> prompt, input command “U” and press “Enter” to start spindle motor.

7. Input command “/1” and press “Enter” to switch back to Level 1.

8. Input command “N1” and press Enter.

9. Perform a power reset, you will see the drive stayed BUSY before is showing READY now.

10. Finally go to New Feature tab specially designed for Seagate 7200.11, Click “Repair LBA=0” button
to fix the problem that made the drive’s LBA detected with 0.

For Seagate 7200.11 drives with SMART error, users can make use of the “Repair SMART Error” button
to have it fixed.

All the above operations won’t damage the data on the patient drive.
