TECHNICAL DATA EARTHMOVER TYRES

TYRES FOR TRANSPORT MACHINES TKPH (TMPH) METHOD

Example of a site TKPH (TMPH) calculation The data to calculate the real site TKPH (TMPH) is as follows: - well kept but abrasive haul roads; - reference cycle: 12 km (7.5 miles); - duration of cycle: 45 minutes ; H = 45 / 60 = 0,75; - ambient temperature: 36 C (96.8 F); a) Calculation of Qm (average tyre load) - Gross vehicle weight (GVW) - Unladen weight per tyre - Front; Qv: - Laden weight per tyre - Front; Qc: (33.3 % of GW on front axle). - Average tyre load, Qm Front: - Unladen weight per tyre - Rear; Qv: - Laden weight per tyre Rear; Qc: (66.7 % of Gross Vehicle weight on rear axle). - Average tyre load, Qm Rear: Thus, the value for Qm to be used will be: b) Calculation of Vm (distance covered per hour) Vm = L H c) basic site TKPH (TMPH) TKPH (TMPH) = Qm x Vm (TKPH) 180 + 64 + 57 = 301 tons 64 = 32 tons 2 301 x 33.3 ~ 50 tons 2 x 100 32 + 50 = 41 tons 2 57 = 14 tons 4 301 x 66.7 ~ 50 tons 4 x 100 14 + 50 = 32 tons 2 41 tons (TMPH) 198.5 + 70.6 + 62.8 = 332 short tons 70,6 = 35 short tons 2 332 x 33.3 = 55 short tons 2 x 100 35 + 55 = 45 short tons 2 62,8 = 15.5 short tons 4 332 x 66.7 = 55 short tons 4 x 100 15.5 + 55 = 35 short tons 2 45 short tons

- average payload: 180 tons (198.5 short ton); mine value - unladen weight Front: 64 tons (70.6 short ton) - unladen weight Rear: 57 tons (62.8 short ton) - distribution of total laden weight: Front = 33.3 % Rear = 66.7 %

12 = 16 km in one hour 0,75 41 x 16 = 656

7.5 = 10 miles in one hour 0,75 45 x 10 = 450

d) Calculation of K1 coefcient The round-trip being longer than 5 kilometres (3 miles), the K1 coefcient is 1.14 (as given in the table on page 96). e) Calculation of K2 coefcient The ambient temperature being different from 38 C (100 F), the K2 coefcient is: K2 = Vm + [ 0,25* x (TA - TR) ] Vm 16 + [0.25 (36 - 38)] = 0.969 (*: use 0.086 instead of 0.25 for TMPH) 16

10 + [0.086 (96.8 - 100)] = 0.972 10

f) Real site TKPH (TMPH) Applying the K1 and K2 coefcients to the basic site TKPH (TMPH) gives the real site TKPH (TMPH). 656 x 1.14 x 0.969 = 725 450 x 1.14 x 0.972 = 499 g) Tyre TKPH (TMPH) / Real site TKPH (TMPH) comparison In the 37.00 R 57 XDR size the different tyre TKPH values are: A = 678 B4 = 848 B = 1018 the different tyre TMPH values are: A = 464 B4 = 581 B = 698

The choice of tyre available for this site would be between B4 and B types. Taking into account the abrasive haul roads, the recommendation would be the B4 type (see type denitions on page 04).
