It was a way for Gurdjieff to say that the real world, the world AS IT IS, is what modern psychology calls the "subconscious." He is quoted for saying this in many places in the "available material" and, in terms of the available material called BEELZEBUB'S TALES, it was Ashiata Shiemash who said that data is not yet completely degenerated for the socalled "fourth sacred impulse" known as OBJECTIVE CONSCIENCE, the first three beingimpulses are faith, love and hope but which have degenerated, unfortunately for us threebrained beings here on earth. observe ourselves that the above is true, us participants on this list, not knowing how to be vindictive in the way that Gurdjieff attained an ability for, but mechanically with the intent, it seems, to hurt. This mechanical vindictiveness cannot help any one of us over the long term, as some us have come painfully to discover. yet atrophied unlike, unfortunately, the sacred being-impulses of Faith, Love and Hope which have, in fact and without doubt, completely degenerated, were to participate in the general functioning of the consciousness under whose direction they pass their daily "waking existence"only then would it be possible to save the contemporary terrestrial three-brained beings of Earth from the consequences of the properties of that organ kundabuffer which was intentionally implanted in their first ancestors. By example of Gurdjieff himself, pointedness by way of stepping on corns impartially and cleverly without the inevitable prejudice and intolerance that go with ordinary vindictiveness such as we see constantly in the world of politics. And if this "right kind" of vindictiveness is voluntarized, as in "role play," it can produce the necessary pointedness without uselessly suffering the effects of identification for yourself as well as for others, for it is true THAT WE ARE ALREADY IDENTIFIED, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US, and so it obviously doesn't help if we point the finger at others for THEIR identification as if we are ourselves non-identified. tendency to point the finger at others for their "identification" and behave like the "Devil the accuser", an unfortunate situation indeed and is, as you all know, a result of the abnormal conditions and circumstances of ordinary life which affect us all. To "do" this allows for greater freedom of expression and makes it possible to walk on muddy water in the form of "all the money hoarded by the peasants of France," India, Australia and everywhere else where people exist as "conscious enemies" of Gurdjieff and who misunderstand his ideas concerning conscious evolution, cosmic tension, etc. and, instead, have degenerated along involutionary ladders using Gurdjieff's ideas and even then only selectively for their own personal gain at the expense of others. So, as I have said, "creation of moon" or "role play" is a sort of method for understanding our own states of identification, in this case MY IDENTIFICATION, and the "underlying" as well as "unifying" principle in all of this, as is said, "common ground" THAT UNITES ALL OF US IN THIS WORK is the words and ideas of Gurdjieff himself in which we all have a mutual interest and, hopefully, for the sake of increasing the understanding of ourselves and also of others.
