The best type of glue to use is white school glue (PVA.) Print out the parts sheets onto thin cardboard. Photocopier card is ideal. Print out the bellows page onto standard printer paper. You will need two copies of the bellows. Notice that the parts pages are marked front and back. Print out a front page, flip it over, then print the back onto the same sheet. Leave the ink to dry completely before continuing. Before cutting anything out, score along all the dotted lines and cut out any holes with a craft knife. Both these jobs are easier to do on full sheets of card. Dashed lines are hill folds, dotted lines are valley folds. Cut along the solid lines. Grey areas show where to glue Black lines show where to cut. Dashed lines are hill folds Dotted lines are valley folds

Assemble the Box without closing down the lid. (1-4) Glue the Centre Divider into place making sure that the joints are air tight. (5)
Youll need to make two sets of bellows. They are the most difficult part of the model so take your time! Print the bellows out onto photocopier paper and score the dotted lines. Fold the paper into a zig-zag then fold it again the other way. Starting from one end fold round the bellows at right angles as shown left.
The Centre Divider runs down the middle of the Box. It should not cover any of the holes. Fold down and glue the lid onto the Centre Divider. (6) Finish off by gluing the Box closed. (7)

Repeat the process for each of the corners until the paper is folded right round to meet itself. Carefully glue the two ends together using the grey area as an alignment guide.

Assemble the two Pistons. (11-12) Fold in half and glue together the Cuckoos making sure that the flaps (14) are not glued together. Carefully cut out the birds. Glue the Cuckoos to the top of the Piston. (14) The Piston needs to be able to move freely within the cylinder so bend the four tabs in slightly as shown to the right.
Assemble the two Cylinders without gluing down the two top flaps. (15-16) Drop the Piston into the Cylinder making sure that the bird is facing towards the front. Fold over and glue down the two flaps trapping the Piston into the Cylinder. (17) Make sure that the Piston is free to move and is not sticking within the cylinder. The Pipes need to be made accurately if they are to work properly. Make sure that you score and cut exactly on the lines. When you are gluing the Pipes together make sure that all the edges and joints are properly sealed. The two pipes are assembled following the same number scheme. Glue together the main Pipe tube. (18-22)
Upper Cover
Glue on the Lower Cover. (23) Assemble the Upper Cover. (24-25) Glue the Upper Cover into place. (26) Try blowing through the pipe to see if it works!

Cuckoo Instructions 2
Glue the pipes to the front of the box. Use the colours to locate the pipes in the correct place.(27) The arrow points to the top of the pipe. Glue the two pistons to the other side of the box. (28) Once the glue is dry operate the cuckoo by pressing first the lower bellows then the upper. The pipes will whistle alternately and the cuckoos will pop out of their cylinder.
