1.1 Identify different forms of helping relationship There are many different forms of helping relations in all factors of human interaction ranging from work related, peer related, social and domestic etc. These relations work on so many different levels from general advice, to professional opinions, to laws relating to the individuals queries and needs in relation to the individuals circumstances and scenarios relevant to the topic. Below I have chosen 3 different forms of helping relations and have tried to use them in 3 different settings. Type of helping relation Peer, friend , family, partner Environmental setting Social , general Description This kind of helping relation is very general and is usually very relaxed. The person helping is usually just giving their general opinion in a friendly and helpful manner. Sometimes in the form of general day to day conversation to helping a friend out in need. The information shared here is not usually formal and is not always correct. For example a friend will tend to agree and be on the friends side and a lot of times is biased towards the friend (letting them hear what they want to hear ``yeah I agree with you they should not have said that`` ``well youre right`` ``I know why shouldnt you get the day off``). This type of helping relationship sometimes will give advice according to the situation from their own personal experiences recognising the individual and how they cope in certain situations. Other types in this category will be peer to peer, spouse to wife, partner to partner, guardians to child, family to family etc. This Helping Relationship usually gives general opinions to certain outcomes and what they should be. This kind of Helping Relationship is usually relevant to the individuals working relation and is usually to

Working Environment

Umar Ali Occupational Health, HR keep the person informed of what is happening in the individuals day to day working requirements and may highlight possible changes happening now or in the future, new work legislations, ways to do tasks and in general anything to help the individual work competently and efficiently in their job. For example the Manger would lay out tasks to be done according to the individuals working agreement / contract and keep them informed of requirements and changes. Colleagues tend to help in showing good practice, easier ways to do tasks etc. which is usually according to the formal guidelines laid out by the Employer. This kind of Helping Relationship tends to be a little more formal that the previous Helping Relationship. The information given is usually related to some Formal requirement. This Helping Relationship usually tends to be very formal and sometimes is helping the individual complete something with regards to legislations and Laws. The Information shared by these sorts of Helping Relationships are usually if not always current and relevant to the individuals need and in many circumstance will also be shared in a written format with dates, times and authorisation signatures. And in many of these Helping Relationship settings the information will be kept or transferred to other services. Example if an individual went to see a solicitor it would be with the intention to have a certain matter resolved according to the law. The individual would want a result and in most circumstance this would be a very formal procedure which also would have some form of business transactions such as payment for services. This type of working relationship is usually to meet an end and to see a result of some sort.

1.3 Describe how counselling is different from other helping relationships Couselling is different to other helping relationships as it is not a place for giving advice. Couselling is a formal service which offers an individual (who is usually classed as Client) a setting which is usually Client Centered. This Client Centered setting allows the Client to be relaxed and comfortable enough to feel safe secure and relaxed so it becomes easier for the client to open up and explore his or hers thoughts, feelings and situations in a private and confidential setting (according to the Counsillors Private and Confidentiality Policy). Councelling is also different as it may not result in a concrete answer set out from the onset, it will allow the individual to explore but not be directed in any particular method or procedure. Coucelling will not guarantee an answer within a set period of time. And majority of the time there is usually an agreed fee for sessions.
