(b) Explain the functions of a tail rotor in a helicopter. [8+8]

3. Explain that the basic mechanism and principal of an air speed indicator and al-
timeter are essentially same. Where are the differences and what is the significance?

4. Discuss the characteristics of troposphere. How does the temperature vary in this
layer of atmosphere? Establish an expression for the same. Hence define lapse rate.
