Roleandtechnologydescription
TheHyperVroleenablesyoutocreateandmanageavirtualizedcomputingenvironmentbyusing virtualizationtechnologythatisbuiltintoWindowsServer2012.InstallingtheHyperVroleinstalls therequiredcomponentsandoptionallyinstallsmanagementtools.Therequiredcomponentsinclude Windowshypervisor,HyperVVirtualMachineManagementService,thevirtualizationWMIprovider, andothervirtualizationcomponentssuchasthevirtualmachinebus(VMbus),virtualizationservice provider(VSP)andvirtualinfrastructuredriver(VID). ThemanagementtoolsfortheHyperVroleconsistof: GUIbasedmanagementtools:HyperVManager,aMicrosoftManagementConsole(MMC) snapin,andVirtualMachineConnection,whichprovidesaccesstothevideooutputofavirtual machinesoyoucaninteractwiththevirtualmachine. HyperVspecificcmdletsforWindowsPowerShell.WindowsServer2012includesaHyperV module,whichprovidescommandlineaccesstoallthefunctionalityavailableintheGUI,as wellfunctionalitynotavailablethroughtheGUI.FormoreinformationabouttheHyperV module,seeHyperVModuleforWindowsPowerShell 5.
