North Canterbury Vet Clinics (NCVC) is a long established provider of quality veterinary care to the North Canterbury region,

with a total of four surgeries located in Amberley, Waikari, Cheviot and Culverden. Hours of service are Monday to Friday from 8.30-5.30pm, with the Amberley clinic providing late nights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. During our 15 minute consultations we believe that nothing is more important than a thorough clinical examination of your pet, allowing subtle or nonvisible changes that you may miss at home to be diagnosed early. NCVC are the ONLY veterinary practice in North Canterbury to provide an Emergency afterhours service for your pet. We also offer a 24/7 service for large animals also. Recent renovations to both the Amberley and Waikari Clinics are now well completed, providing modern and up to date clinical facilities from which we can offer the following services. Diagnostic Imaging We have a wide range of imaging equipment with a dedicated radiology room where we can take, process and assess x-rays from a wide range of species from kittens to horses. We are able to take dental radiographs, allowing full assessment of your pets teeth prior to any dental treatment. Ultrasonography and endoscopy are another essential part of our diagnostic armoury, allowing noninvasive diagnosis of many disease processes and conditions. Our Equine crush at the Amberley clinic allows safe and efficient handling of our equine patients, where endoscopy of the upper airways, radiography and ultrasonography allow a full lameness work up to be performed.

The in-house laboratory Having an in-house laboratory means we can perform basic diagnostic tests such as smears and urinalysis quickly and efficiently. The Vetscan blood analyser can rapidly assess an animals biochemistry status saving valuable time sending the sample to the laboratory in Christchurch. This is essential in an emergency or when the laboratory is closed, such as after hours.

Dentistry Our latest model IM3 dental machine has allowed dentistry to be taken to the next level. Many of our pets suffer in silence with marked dental pain from broken or abscessed teeth. We are able to provide a wide range of dental care from prevention to cure. Dental radiography allows assessment of the tooth roots and routine nerve blocks allow pain free extraction of any problem teeth. High speed dental equipment and ultrasonic de- scaling unit can offer a service similar to what you would expect at your own Dentist.

Surgery and Medicine We have a number of experienced veterinarians within the practice, with a wide range of skills to attend to most surgical and medical conditions encountered with our pets. A backup specialist service is available when required. Our sterile surgery suite copes with a large volume of surgery ranging from routine desexing to major orthopaedic repairs on a daily. We have a dedicated team of experienced nurses monitoring patient anaesthesia, blood pressure and fluid therapy requirement throughout every surgical procedure. Patient aftercare and hospitalisation is provided post-operatively by our nursing team. Recent acquisition of an image I allows real time intraoperative radiographic images to be taken throughout surgical procedures.

We offer Wellness clinics for the older dogs and cats with our Grey Paws scheme, with the aim of providing preventative health care for pre geriatric and geriatric patients. Puppy preschools, organised by our Head nurse Christine, provide a safe and ideal environment to socialise the young puppy. Weight loss clinics provide support and information for the dieting pet is also run by our wonderful and dedicated nursing team. More recently we have started the Blood donor programme, registering donor dogs to be blood donors when required.
