Creating Value with Culturally Diverse Teams

If you work with culturally diverse teams, you'll know they have huge potential, but also that so many of these teams fall short, with many of them either becoming dysfunctional or simply compromising. So in this session we'll be looking at successful processes for creating value with culturally diverse teams that you'll be able to take away and apply in your context. We'll be exploring areas including: The link between culture, linguistic constructs and what we now know from neuroscience Processes for exploring differences and their impacts Discussing differences openly, and accelerating a spirit of inclusion How to create new ways of working which get the best from all. Learning Objectives/Outcomes: The participant at the end of the session will be able to: Apply a process for creating value with culturally diverse teams Spot the typical pitfalls to avoid with culturally diverse teams Reflect on their own facilitation style and what adjustments might be needed for different cultures Biographical information: Alastair is a Certified Professional Facilitator who specialises in bringing about cultural change in organisations. Much of his work focuses on developing multi-cultural leadership teams' leadership capabilities, and developing facilitators and coaches working in multi-cultural contexts. This is the session you wont want to miss! Most facilitators are armed with the three or four techniques they routinely use to get a group talking. And what do you do if you are going to be with the same group for seven half-day sessions? Most of us would be out of engagement techniques by the third day and would have to start cycling back. In this session, you will have the opportunity to share your best engagement techniques, and build your tool box as you hear about and have a chance to use techniques shared by others! Learning Objectives/Outcomes: At the end of the session the participants will be able to: Understand a structured process for introducing engagement activities Have a tool box of additional engagement methods Have seen a variety of engagement methods in use Biographical information: Michael Wilkinson is the Managing Director of Leadership Strategies, Inc. - a leadership training and strategy consulting firm specializing in group facilitation.
