Green Team Webinar & Photo Contest August 31, 2012

Mark your calendars for the Kansas Green Teams webinar taking place on Sept. 25 from 9 10:30 a.m. (CST). This webinar will take the place of this years annual Green Team Assembly. It is our hope that more people throughout the state will be able to participate that may not have been able to due to the travel required. Registration is now open. Click here to register. You will receive a follow up email with a link to the webinar after you register. Join us as Ed Murtagh, Sustainable Operations Manager at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will be covering the USDA Headquarters waste minimization and recycling program. His presentation will address program design, engaging employees through outreach and education, and monitoring performance. Mr. Murtagh is a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in sustainable construction building practices, including energy management, indoor air quality, waste minimization and recycling, and environmentally beneficial landscaping. Mr. Murtagh will be joined by Alicia Culver, Director of the Responsible Purchasing Network. Alicias experience working on sustainability issues spans more than two decades. She has provided technical support to procurement agents and environmental program staff in many states and municipalities. She has helped develop model green purchasing policies and specifications for a wide-range of environmentally preferable goods and services such as low-mercury/energyefficient fluorescent lamps, asthma-safe cleaning products and compostable food service ware. Alicia founded the Green Purchasing Institute. We will continue to hand out awards for Kansas Green Team accomplishments. Award information is now available, and can be viewed here. Award entries are self-nominated and are due no later than Sept. 17. PRIZES! Throughout the webinar, we will give out prizes to those who correctly answer questions.
