THESIS GUIDELINES
(Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering)
Following are the guidelines laid down for Seminar, Project and Thesis work to be carried out during the course of M.Tech. at SBS STC Ferozepur 1. Important Dates: Tentative Weeks are given below for various types of presentations: Presentations Semester Week a. Seminar Third August b. Project Third October c. Pre-submission Fourth February April June August October December d. Thesis Submission -----Within 01 month of presubmission

2. Departmental Research Committee (DRC): All Seminars and PreSubmission presentations will be evaluated by the DRC. Following shall be the structure of DRC: a. Head of Department b. Supervisor c. Co-supervisor, if any d. Faculty with Ph.D. degree for 100 marks by DRC.

3. Seminar: Seminar is equivalent to Thesis Synopsis that will be evaluated 4. Project: Project is considered equivalent to Mid-Way progress report and
will be evaluated by DRC. Remaining 50 marks will be evaluated by External Examiner.

5. Pre-submission: Before finally submitting thesis, student should have

got atleast one paper published/accepted from his research work. Then student will present his work in front of DRC. Student can submit his/her thesis within next two months after: a. Alterations in thesis suggested by the committee, if any. b. Communicating/publishing one more paper based on final results & conclusions.

6. Latex Template: No report/thesis typed in MS Word will be accepted.

Every student will submit his/her report/thesis typed using Latex only in a specified template only.

7. Supervisor: Following procedure will be followed to allocate Supervisors

to students. a. Students will approach teachers of the department to guide. b. Teachers will give their consent to be guide in writing. c. Students will submit their requests in specified format (Annexure-I) to Head of Department to allocate Supervisor.

d. Final allocation of Supervisors will be notified by Head of Department. e. All M.Tech. students (Part-Time: 5th Sem & Full Time: 3rd Sem) will be distributed equally among departmental faculty.

8. Co-Supervisor: Student can take Co-Supervisor only with permission of

Head of Department. Student will submit his/her request, mentioning the reason, along with consents of concerned Supervisor and willing CoSupervisor. Willing co-supervisor should have regular job experience of atleast 2 years.

9. Chapter Organization: Tentative Chapter titles and major heads to be

covered are given as guideline, however, supervisor can suggest for alterations. Any Approximate Results Improvement conference paper Expectations Significance cannot be base paper Results Conclusions Problem & Base Improvements Conclusions Paper Future Scope Problem considered Future Scope Work done Work pending Work to be done PPTs submitted those can be spiral bound. One copy will be returned to the student. However, Thesis will have to be Hard bound with light-green cover paper (as per by PTU Jalandhar guidelines). Following Six copies have to be submitted along with Thesis Abstract: a. Students copy b. Supervisors copy c. Copy for PTU Jalandhar d. Examiners Copy e. Library Copy f. Departmental Record

10. Binding & No. of Copies: Two copies of Seminar/Project reports will be
