Valuable Life Changes as Unique as Each Child

Montanova Stables Foundation (MSF) uses horses and ponies to provide nurturing and enriching services to children and adolescents in our community. We believe that all children bene t from interactions with horses and the valuable life skills we develop in our Horsemanship and Mentoring Programs. Regardless of their ability to pay, we are committed to o ering our programs to children from a variety of backgrounds.
We accomplish this goal through mentoring, reduced cost lessons and community outreach. Using these programs, we are able to meld equestrian activities and positive social experiences. We also provide after-school enrichment and summer camps (free of charge) to children identi ed by family support workers in our local school systems. Our programs encourage pro ciency in riding and horsemanship skills as well as respect for and conscientious care of all the animals on our farm. Positive work ethic, self-reliance and problem solving skills are natural results of our program, allowing us to improve the lives of our volunteer mentors, the children we serve and the horses in our care. Partnership with other community agencies is an integral part of our Foundations work. ese organizations include; e Boys and Girls Club, Albemarle High Schools CBIP program and local foster agencies. Our farm is used to enhance their programs and bring the unique experiences of equestrian activities to the children and adolescents they serve. e Boys and Girls Club currently participates with weekly visits alternating horsemanship lessons and riding instructions. Albemarle High Schools CBIP program utilizes MSF for their adolescent clients. e knowledge and training these children obtain at our stable can be translated into real vocational skills, a better understanding and respect for horses and strengthened con dence through positive interactions with our volunteers.
