8. Identify correlation between math and music. Criteria/Assessment: Students will be given a paper and pencil test that provides a rhythmic symbol. Students will write the mathematical fraction that accurately describes the symbol (i.e. dotted quarter note = in a 6/8 meter). The text will have 10 questions and each question will be worth 1 points. 9. Identify music from various cultures and historical time periods. Criteria/Assessment: Identify various ensembles aurally and identify the genre they relate to. Students will be given a paper and pencil test in which they will hear at random one of the following ensembles: orchestra, jazz band, rock band, choir, operatic singer and orchestra, mariachi band. They will be able to list the name of ensemble after hearing its musical excerpt. The test will have 10 questions and each question will be worth 1 point.
