Junior Programs Guide 2012 Welcome to the MLG&CC Junior Programs Guide. In an effort to serve our members better, this informative, up-to-date booklet provides information on all Junior Programs and Activities. This guide contains detailed descriptions of Tennis, Golf, Swimming and Sailing clinics, as well as Specialized Programs at the Junior Clubhouse. MLG&CC has a history of providing the best experiences for your child. One of the goals of our Junior Program staff is to have your child develop a love for their sport that instills honesty, integrity, and lifelong friendships. We will continue this tradition under the guidance of our team of professional instructors. These programs respect our commitment to each Junior member by providing high quality and enjoyable programs and our commitment to the Mission and Values of Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club. It is imperative to note the session dates listed in the margin of this page when registering your children for programs. If there are any questions, please contact the Junior Programs Coordinator at (705) 765-3166 or juniors@mlgcc.com General Information Junior Club Rules Children under the age of 9 (born in 2003 or later) must be accompanied by a mature person at all times when on Club property, including to and from Junior Activities. Non-member parents of Junior members may only use the Clubs facilities if they are accompanied by the Junior member and only during Junior Activity hours. Non-member parents are not permitted to sign chits. Sheltered Membership Any children born in 2003 or earlier must be sheltered and or become a Junior Member in order to participate in programs. Please consult the 2012 Annual Members Handbook for details. If you have any questions or wish to shelter or purchase a Junior Membership please contact the Main Clubhouse Office and speak with Andrea Healey.

Activity Fee Participants born in 2003 or later and who are not sheltered or hold a Junior Membership are subject to an activity fee for each program they participate in. The activity fees are listed below. Swimming: $12.50 per session Tennis: $50 per season Golf: $50 per season Storage of Personal Items We have outdoor cubbies in the front of the Junior Clubhouse for storage of your equipment. You will also find NEW outdoor cubbies at the Tennis Proshop. Please do not leave items on the grassy knoll by the swim area or on the Junior Clubhouse deck. Any items left there will be removed and placed in the Lost & Found. MLG&CC is not responsible for any lost, misplaced or stolen items. Storage is for day use only. Lost & Found We strongly suggest you label all clothing and equipment with your childs name. In the event that an item has been lost, please check at the Junior Clubhouse in the cubbies labeled Lost & Found. All found items will be held there until the end of the season. Any items lost at a food & beverage event, or more valuable items, will be held in the Main Office. Rainy Day Policy It is at the discretion of the Head Professional to cancel or postpone any Junior Programming due to inclement weather. If the outdoor portion of the clinic is cancelled there will be dry clinic training and/or activities held at the Junior Clubhouse. All Juniors are required to remain at the clinic until dismissed by the Head Professional. All Juniors waiting for transportation are welcome to come to the Junior Clubhouse for Rainy Day Cottage activities. If the Parent or Guardian wishes to sign out their child they may do so at the Junior Clubhouse. This is to ensure safety of the Junior members. Attire It is expected that all Juniors will adhere to the Clubs dress code while on property. When participating in clinics, all Juniors are required to wear the appropriate attire for each specific clinic. Please consult the 2012 Annual Member Handbook or the Head Professional for further clarification. The Head Professional reserves the right to refuse admittance to any Junior not dressed in appropriate attire and/or equipment.

Volunteer Opportunities Thinking about becoming an instructor at MLG&CC one day? Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to gain useful experience for future employment, and is highly recommended. Check out the volunteer opportunities below. Please consult the Head Professional for specific details and how to get involved. Please track your volunteer hours and have them signed off on by the professional. Golf: Score keepers, on course chaperones. Swim: Water Safety Instructor assistants, victim simulators for Leadership courses. Tennis: Volunteer instructors for Beginner and Junior Clinics. Please note, you must volunteer one season in order to apply as a tennis instructor. Sailing: Volunteers needed for set-up and takedown on sailing activity days. Parent Volunteers We need your help. We are hoping to give our Junior members more opportunity to play on the course, courts, and in the water. To give them this opportunity we need parents. Listed below are some parent volunteer opportunities. Please see the Junior Programs Coordinator to learn more about these opportunities or to sign up. Golf: Score keeping, chaperoning on course play. Tennis: Score keeping and officiate matches. Sailing: Transportation to and from Tuesday Races.

Registration
Registration for Junior Programs begins Wednesday May 23, 2012. With the decision to limit class sizes, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will only be contacted if your child is on a wait list for any program. Note: We strongly encourage online registration for your ease and to ensure complete applications are submitted. You will receive an email confirmation of all programs you have registered for through online registration. However, you may also choose to submit your registration via paper form available at www.mlgcc.com under Mail in Registration Form and mail or fax (705-765-6633) it to the Club, attn: Junior Programs Coordinator. Registration Checklist Browse through the Junior Programs Guide for updates to levels, age requirements and program availability. Visit our website at www.mlgcc.com on or after May 23, 2012 to submit your registration via online form, or print and mail/fax the printable version to MLG&CC. Have your calendar and your childs health card number ready. You may also choose to complete the inserted application and mail or fax it to the club. If you register online, you will be emailed a confirmation of your childs programs. If you send your registration by mail or fax, you will be contacted ONLY if your child is waitlisted for a clinic. Waitlist Registration Waitlist families will be allowed to register for August programs based on availability. Registration for the August programs will opened on July 23, 2012. A completed registration form with your full payment must be made at the time of registration to have your child participate in the programs. NEW! Billing Policy


Please take the time to review and understand the changes to the MLG&CC Junior Programs Billing Policy. The following is a new detailed billing policy adopted by MLG&CC for the 2012 Junior Programs. Please read this policy about billing, activity fees, voluntary withdrawal and transfer within programs. For more details, please contact Junior Programs staff. All Junior Clinics / Programs will be billed to the indicated member on the registration form. Waitlisted members must submit full payment by cheque upon registration for the clinics/programs. Signing privileges are available to Club members only. Clinic Cancellations/ Withdraw Fee Schedule There will be no charge for changes to registration that happen 7 days or more before the clinic start date. Cancellations or changes that are made within the week (7 days) before a clinic start date will be subject to a $25 administration fee. Members will be responsible for all fees and associated charges for changes or cancellations made after midnight Thursday before the start of a new session.

Important Dates Aphrodite Cup Sailing Dates: Tuesday July 17, 24, 31 Locations: July 17: MLG&CC July 24 @ Lake of Bays S.C. July 31 @ South Muskoka S.C.

MLG&CC offers an inclusive sailing program dictated by the Canadian Yachting Association and includes instruction for; White Sail Levels I, II, III, Bronze Sail IV, V, and Silver Sail VI as well as a new racing program. All levels are awarded based on the students practical abilities in the boat and his/her proficiency in sail theory. Sessions run for 2 weeks. See dates on page one. White Sail I Mon-Thurs 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm Fee: $ 215

An emphasis is placed on safety and the proper use of sailing equipment, especially use of a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Ashore skills include basic sailing knots, and students must be able to rig and de-rig their boats and identify wind direction while on the water. White Sail II Mon-Thurs 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm Fee: $ 215

Students must demonstrate competency on the water and show an understanding of both crew and skipper positioning. Candidates must also know the points of sail and the proper procedure for tacking and gybing. White Sail III Mon-Thurs 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm Fee: $ 215

New Sailing Structure Coming this Summer! Starting this summer the Canadian Yachting Association will be making some changes to their program structure, and will be changing the names of their sailing levels. The content for the most part will remain the same, with some levels being condensed to encompass skills from other levels. However, the instructors are fully prepared to provide the same quality sailing instruction as summers past, and will ensure that the proper requirements are met for each level.

In addition to the preliminary skills taught in the earlier levels, students must demonstrate the man-overboard skill, proper docking procedures, right-of-way rules and be able to differentiate between different types of sailboats. Bronze Sail Level IV Mon-Fri 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm Fee: $ 235

Students must demonstrate an understanding of sail controls, crew positioning, proper race procedure, sailing backwards and sailing without a rudder.

Bronze Sail Level V Mon-Fri 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm

Fee: $ 235

Candidates must learn the proper procedure for hoisting, dousing and gybing the spinnaker sail without instructor assistance. Additionally, students must become comfortable with trapezing while correctly flying a spinnaker. Silver Sail Level VI Mon-Fri 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 1:00-4:00 pm Fee: $ 235

This level of the CYA Learn to Sail program is an introduction to racing. On completion of Silver Sail VI, the candidate will be able to compete in a race with a sound understanding of the racing rules and have a strong base of racing strategy and techniques. NEW! MLG&CC Race Team Tues 9:00 am-4:00 pm and Fri 9:00 am-12:00 pm Fee: $ 125*

MLG&CC Sailing school is offering an opportunity for the bronze level sailors to advance their skills in racing techniques. This racing team will travel together to the Aphrodite Cup races on Tuesdays and will practice together on Fridays. The team will be made up of the first 8 sailors to register. * Fees only apply to those participants who are not registered for the regular sailing program. NEW! MLG&CC Interclub Thursday Races Thursday sailing lessons will focus on being out in the bay and experiencing racing. The last hour of the lesson will see our clinic sailors race against each other in friendly competition. This will give our young sailors the opportunity to develop racing skills in a safe and fun environment. Each race day will be themed and awards will be given out for participation. Watch the weekly Junior News for the coming weeks theme. M.L.A. Aphrodite Cup Junior Series Sailing Dates Tuesday July 17 @ MLG&CC Tuesday July 24 @ Lake of Bays S.C. Tuesday July 31 @ South Muskoka S.C. Parent Volunteers are needed to transport and chaperone the MLG&CC Sailors at the away races. As well as cheer them on!!

SWIMMING
MLG&CC is pleased to offer the Red Cross and Lifesaving Society swimming programs. Age requirements, level designations and content have been updated. Consult participant requirements and age guide below when selecting the appropriate level for your child. The Lifesaving Society dictates leadership levels. Please see specific requirements for each level. Each lesson runs for 30 minutes, unless otherwise indicated. Sessions run for two weeks. The times for lessons will be based on registration and numbers. Your swimming time will be sent to you 1 week before the start of clinics. We will work to ensure that you have a convenient time during the day. Swimming Programs: Swim Preschool: Ages 16 months 5 years Duck Fee: $65 Mon-Fri For older babies at ages 16-30 months; participation with parent/caregiver. There will be an emphasis on comfort in the water, with an introduction to assisted floats, rhythmic breathing and active water play. Sea Turtle Fee: $65 Mon-Fri (independent or with parent/caregiver) This is a transitional level for toddlers (30-36 months) and their parent/caregivers. Toddlers will participate in active play, singsongs, and learn safety skills. Older, more comfortable children can participate in independent classes those requiring more assistance can participate in the parent & tot class. Sea Otter Fee: $65 Mon-Fri For children ages 3-6. This is a transitional swimming level to perform instructor assisted skills. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to open their eyes under water, further develop basic floats and glides, and swim one meter. They also learn age-appropriate water safety skills.

Salamander Fee: $65 Mon-Fri For children who are 3-4 years and can comfortably move and float with instructor assistance and put their face in the water. Games and songs will help preschoolers feel comfortable jumping chest-deep into water and learning to glide. Sunfish Fee: $65 Mon-Fri For children at 4 years of age, students will practice deep-water activities such as floats and surface support. There is an increased emphasis on glide distance and kicking, with a focus on learning good judgment in and around the water. Crocodile Fee: $65 Mon-Fri This level is for 4-5 year olds who can move independently in the water. Basic swims are introduced with encouragement to demonstrate unassisted independent glides. Endurance is built by increasing distance with front and back swims. Deep-water activities and jumps are designed to build comfort. Whale Fee: $65 Mon-Fri For children ages 5-6, students will be introduced to somersaults, establish glides and kicks and perform an endurance swim. Swimming on the front and back will be improves through instruction and games.

Red Cross Swim Kids Children born in 2004 and before Swim Kids 1 Fee: $70 Mon-Fri For children 6 years and older who have some swimming experience and are comfortable in the water. A variety of strokes are introduced with an emphasis on endurance. Students work towards unassisted deep-water jumps and surface support. Swim Kids 2 Fee: $70 Mon-Fri Children will be introduced to somersaults, further deep-water activities and proper use of a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). There is a focus on developing front and back strokes and a 10meter endurance swim. Swim Kids 3 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

Children will focus on floats and glides with change of direction. Front crawl will be introduced with an emphasis on flutter kick. There is a 15-meter endurance swim. Swim Kids 4 Fee: $70 Mon-Fri Front crawl is further developed and an emphasis on developing the back glide and back glide with flutter kick. Deep-water activities include kneeling dives, longer surface support and a 25meter endurance swim. The participants will be introduced to Red Cross Water Safety. Swim Kids 5 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

Back crawl and back whip kick are taught, as well as attempted stride dive. There is a shallow end introduction to sculling, as well as an increase to 50-meter endurance swim. Students will also focus on safe boating skills. Swim Kids 6 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

Elementary backstroke is introduced, front dive mastered, along with longer distance swims for all strokes. Precision of front and back crawl is developed, and students will complete a 75-meter endurance swim.

Swim Kids 7 Mon-Fri

Fee: $70

Eggbeater and whip kick on front is taught. Introduction to and development of throwing and reaching assist rescues are completed. Students will learn about airway and breathing obstructions. There is an increased focus on endurance for surface support and a 150-meter endurance swim. Swim Kids 8 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

Participants will learn the fundamentals of breaststroke and dolphin kick, along with stride entry and feet-first surface dives. Students will develop their knowledge of open water dangers and hypothermia. There is a 300-meter endurance swim. Swim Kids 9 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

Headfirst surface dives, standing shallow dives, and self-rescues from ice are taught. The four strokes are developed and utilized in a 200-meter endurance swim with a focus on fitness. Swim Kids 10 Mon-Fri Fee: $70

The four strokes are perfected, with an introduction to sidestroke and butterfly. Students will complete a 400-meter endurance swim. Advanced Swimming and Lifesaving The Canadian Lifesaving Manual is required for Bronze Star and above. It is an additional cost of $50.00 and will be distributed on the first day of the course. Please pay particular attention to the specific age requirements for these levels. Rookie Pre-requisite: completion of Level 10 Mon-Fri

Fee: $75

Somersaults, underwater swimming and clothed rescue skills are taught, as well as rescue breathing, primary survey, and throwing aid rescues. Class runs for 45 minutes.

Ranger Pre-requisite: completion of Rookie Mon-Fri

Fee: $75

Compact jumps, eggbeater supporting a weight, and head-up front crawl are instructed; students will also learn first aid treatment for victims with symptoms of shock and how to clear an obstructed airway. Class runs for 45 minutes. Star Pre-requisite: completion of Ranger Mon-Fri

Fee: $75

In-water defenses, treatment for unconscious victims in water will be taught; participants will perform treatment for external bleeding and learn how to deal with complications during rescue breathing. Class runs for 45 minutes. Bronze Star & Basic First Aid with CPR A Pre-requisite: Child must be born in or before 2000 Mon-Fri Fee: $110 For students who are ready to take Bronze Medallion but are not yet 13 years students will learn submerged victim recovery, adult CPR, and treatment for spinal injuries on land. Course runs in two-week sessions. Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid with CPR B * Pre-requisite: Child must be born in or before 1999 and/or completed Bronze Star Mon-Fri Fee: $160 Candidates practice water rescues, first aid scenarios, including heart attacks, stroke, adult and child CPR, and shallow water spinals. Course runs for one month. Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid with CPR B RECERT Saturday July 21 9:00 am-12:00 pm Fee: $100 Saturday August 18 9:00 am-12:00 pm Fee: $100 Candidates must recertify their most recent award within two years of original certification to keep valid and up-to-date. Bronze Cross& Emergency First Aid with CPR B* Pre-requisite: Child must be born in or after 1998 and have completed and hold a current certification in Bronze Medallion Mon-Fri Fee: $160 Building on the Skills learnt in Bronze Medallion and introducing deep water spinals and other first responder first aid techniques. GOLF
Progression through golf levels is based on age not ability. Consult the guide below for skills acquired at each level. Participants are categorized by age into the Long Term Player Development Program newly released by Golf Canada. Instruction takes place on the driving range where skills are taught and developed for a minimum of 1 hour. The remainder of the clinic time will offer participants the opportunity to learn the rules and etiquette of the game through on course play with acceptation to the Novice level. At all levels, there is strong emphasis on enjoyment of the game, proper rules and golf etiquette, and a team atmosphere. Attire Collared shirts are mandatory for participants at all levels. Please see the 2012 Annual Member Handbook for further description of attire. Sessions run for 2 weeks see the dates on page 1. Novice Children born in 2004 or 2005 Monday 9:00 am - 10:00 am and Tuesday 9:00-10:30 am Fee: $40 Parents are asked to accompany their children to and from the clinics arriving 10 minutes before the beginning of the clinic. Students will be introduced to the golf swing with a focus on acquiring preliminary fundamentals. Participants will be introduced to course play on the Driving Range course from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesdays. Junior Children Born in 2002 or 2003 Tuesday 2:15-4:15 pm Wednesday 2:00-3:00 pm Friday 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Fee: $80 Knowledge of the starting and finishing positions is emphasized, with an introduction to course rules and etiquette. We have extended the Junior clinic one hour on Fridays to offer more inclusive teaching time.

There is a strong focus on ball contact and placement of golf club to produce proper swing results. Participants progress towards course play. Prizes are awarded for top finishers. Sign up in clinics or on the Junior golf board outside the Starters Hut. Wednesday July 11, 2012 Tee Times Starting at 3:30 pm for 9-12 year olds and 4:30 pm for 13 years and older. ** Following the completion of the Junior Scramble there will be a BBQ held on the Junior Clubhouse Veranda**

Junior Girls Golf Extravaganza Crazy Hair Extravaganza Wednesday July 25, 2012 From 3:00 - 5:30 pm Please meet at the Driving Range Ages: 9-11 This is the third year for our Junior Girls Golf Extravaganza. This is a great opportunity of our Junior Girls to get out on the course and enjoy the sport with their peers and guidance from our Sr. Lady Golfers. This is a fun event that encourages participation for our Junior Girls. Each participant will receive a players gift. There are individual hole challenges to make the game a little more interesting. This years theme is Crazy Hair, there will be prizes awarded for the most wild up do. Sign Up will be made available on the Junior section of the bulletin board outside the starters hut leading up to the event. Junior Girls Pajama Golf Tuesday August 21, 2012 Time: 8:00 - 10:00 pm Please meet at Liliwood Ages: 11-14 We are pleased to invite all Junior girls age 11-14 to the inaugural pajama party 3-hole glow ball event. Sign up for this event will be posted on the Junior Golf Bulletin Board on the starters hut. Please contact Heather Coons for more information at hemcoons@gmail.com Parent volunteers are needed for all events to chaperone on course, keep score, and keep pace of play. Please see the Junior Programs Coordinator or the Pro Shop to sign up to Volunteer for any of these events. Parents will not be grouped with their own children during these events. Reminder! TENNIS
Progression through tennis levels is based on age not ability. Participants will be divided according to ability on the first day of a session. Consult the guide below for skills acquired at each level. Participants are required to bring their own racquet. Visit the Tennis Pro Shop if you need assistance in selecting the appropriate racquet size. Junior Tournament play is encouraged with the use of proper tennis etiquette in levels Junior I, Junior II, Intermediate and Advanced. At these levels, students are also tested according to the Tennis Canada Play Awards Program. Sessions run for two weeks. Please note: Proper tennis shoes are required on the clay courts. This summer the tennis Proshop will be retailing Junior sized tennis court shoes while supplies last. Beginner Children born in 2006 to 2008 Tuesday and Thursday 9:15-10:00 am Fee: $50

At this level, there is an introduction to the game of tennis with emphasis on fun. Participants practice the balance of a tennis ball on racquet and other basic drills. There is no testing at the end of the session. Novice Children born in 2004 or 2005 Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11:00-12:00 pm Fee: $75

There is an emphasis on enjoyment at the Novice level. Participants will run and hit tennis balls from a drop feed. There is no testing at the end of the session. Junior Children born in 2002 or 2003 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 1:00-2:00 pm Fee: $100

The fundamentals of each stroke are stressed at this level, along with improving consistency and control. Major skills include hitting forehand and backhand over the net from a pro fed ball. Participants practice their serving and hitting ground strokes.

Intermediate Children Born in 2000 or 2001 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 2:00-3:00 pm

Fee: $100

This level will introduce strategy and the increase of power through use of spin. Participants practice serving and are able to rally points out. Participants work to complete their Silver and Gold Certificates in the Tennis Canada Play Awards Program. Skills include hitting with a spin, gaining reliability with a second serve, ability to rally and hit winners. Big Break: The Junior Tennis program is bringing back the challenging and competitive Big Break tournament. To take part in Big Break you must be enrolled in the Junior, Intermediate, or Advanced Junior Tennis Clinics. Big Break will run as an elimination skills tournament. All participants will receive a Tshirt. There will be prizes and new opportunities for weekly and overall winners. Dates: Friday July 6, 13, 20, and Monday July 23, 2012 Junior Doubles Tournament July 2012 Junior Singles Tournament August 2012 Sign up for tournaments is the first week of Junior Clinics session 1 and 3. Tournament categories include U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. Your age group is your age as of January 1st, 2012. Juniors can play in their age category and one above. All tournament matches have a play on or by date posted. Trophies are awarded for winners and runners up in each division.

Specialized Programs
To add diversity to our Junior Programs, we have created specific classes and activities to appeal to all ages of participants outside of regular clinics. Course descriptions are included below. Pay attention to age requirements and costs for certain programs. You may sign up for a specialized program up to 5 days in advanced. Please visit the Activities Coordinator in the Junior Clubhouse or call (705) 765-3166 to sign up your child for the specialized programs. Daily craft programs do not have online registration; you must register on the sign-up lists in the Junior Clubhouse or by phone at (705) 765-3166. The sign-up sheets will be posted one week prior to the date of the crafts Daily Craft Programs: Craft sessions will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:00 am and 11:00-12:00pm. Participants MUST register on the Junior Clubhouse sign-up lists. Online registration is not available for this programming. Full craft descriptions for each day will be posted one week prior to craft date. The cost is $5 per craft session per candidate. Some Crafts may require parental assistance. Enrollment is limited; you must register a minimum of 48 hours in advance in order to hold your space. Drop-in participants who have not registered in advance will not be permitted to join in the session unless materials are available.

Family Night Program: MLG&CC is inviting all families to enjoy dinner and activities on Thursday nights for the summer season. A calendar will be issued with specific activities or visit the Junior Clubhouse for more information. You must reserve for Family Night dinner with the Main Office. New Member/Returning Member Reception Welcome afternoon to new members or returning members to the Junior Program and Junior Clubhouse. This is an opportunity for you to meet the Junior Staff and ask any questions regarding registration, scheduling, and programs. The Junior Clubhouse will be open from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday July 1 for any new members or returning members. Tours will start at 1:30 pm. Program Date: Sunday July 1, 2012 1:00-3:00 pm Red Cross Babysitters Training Course: Designed for candidates 11 years of age and older, this course will help prepare the student to be an effective and safe babysitter. Students will learn how to choose appropriate toys and games, perform first aid, learn diapering and feeding techniques, handle bedtime issues and learn tips for a safe babysitting experience. Cost includes manual and materials and will be held in the Junior Clubhouse. A light meal will be provided each night. Program Dates: Day 1: Tuesday July 3 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Day 2: Wednesday July 4 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm Fee: $100 Private Course Opportunity: arrange with Junior Clubhouse to design course times to suit your childs schedule. Bluebird Boxes: Join our experienced greens keeping staff in the Junior Clubhouse to construct homes for the many families of birds around the golf course. There is no cost for this program. Program Date: Wednesday July 25 1:00-2:00 pm There is no fee to participate in this program.

Culinary Kid Chef!: Designed for Juniors aged nine and older, this program will allow children to become the Patisserie for your table. Participants will be introduced to the key attributes of working in the kitchen. Your little Chef will create a dessert cake that will be presented at your table for Family Night Dinner that evening. Program Dates: July 12, 2012 August 9, 2012 Each session runs from 2:00-3:00 pm Fee: $20 Standard First Aid with CPR-C: The highest level of first aid, required as a pre-requisite for National Lifeguard Service (NLS) and in many workplaces. This 16-hour course covers First Aid skills including the recognition, treatment and prevention of airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies, musculoskeletal, soft tissue and head and spine injuries and other medical emergencies. 100% attendance is required. $130 course fee includes materials and manual. The course will be held in the Junior Clubhouse. Families welcome, must be ages 12 or older to participate. Course Date: Saturday/Sunday July 21 and 22, 2012 9:00 am-5:00 pm Fee: $140/candidate Second Annual Cardboard Box Boat Races: Build your own cardboard box boat and put your skills to the test in the Second Annual Cardboard Box Boat Race! You may use any size cardboard box, Duct Tape, Wax, and string; You may use paint but it cannot contain fiberglass or epoxy. You may bring 1 hand held paddle to paddle your boat. Pick up your Race package upon your arrival to the Club and get started early. Register your boat on Tuesday July 17th and receive your race time on Wednesday morning. There are prizes for the most creative and top finishers. To be refereed by the Top Staff at MLG&CC. Race Date: Wednesday July 28 You are responsible for all materials needed to build your boat.

Slumber Party and Pancake Breakfast (Girls): The Traditional Slumber party for the girls aged 12 to 14. The evening will have a host of events with movies, manicures and pedicures. Pack your sleeping bag for a night at the Junior Clubhouse. There is a $10 fee for this activity and a permission form will be required from all participants signed by the parent or guardian. Program Date: Thursday July 19-20, 2012 (After Family Night) Safe Boaters Course Again MLG&CC will offer the opportunity to take the Safe Boaters course. This is a legal requirement to be operating a motorized vehicle on the water. All members are encouraged to take a Safe Boaters course and become licensed. This course is offered to Members 8 and older. This course is not just limited to the Junior members, parents are also encouraged to come and take part in the day long course. Talent Show The Junior Members will be hosting a talent show after dinner on Thursday July 19, 2012. However to have the show happen we are in need of Talent! We are looking for singers, dancers, drama, yo yoers and more to put together a dynamic show for parents, grandparents and friends. Sign up your talent early as there is limited space. Sign up in the Junior Clubhouse with the Activities Coordinator or Junior Programs Coordinator. All performers will be responsible for providing their own music, costumes, and props. Much Music Video Teen Dance Along with tradition the Junior Programs will once again be hosting the annual Teen Dance after the July 26th Awards Banquet. We have booked Much Musics Video Dance again this year. This is an exclusive event for teens aged 12-18. Lets dance the night away on the waterfront! Tickets will be available for purchase starting July 2, 2012 and are also available at the door. Members will be allowed to bring 1 guest. (Just in case they have a friend up at the cottage) Tickets: $10

NEW! First 4 VS. 4 Boys Ball Hockey Tournament We are hosting a Ball Hockey Tournament for the guys!! Get your team together and pick up your registration package at the Junior Clubhouse upon your arrival to Muskoka. To enter your team you need to have all spots filled and a team name. The teams will be placed in age divisions that correspond with those ages divisions in our programs. Novice, Junior, Intermediate, Advanced.
