Celebrated writer and political commentator Gore Vidal has died aged 86, his family has confirmed. He died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, with the cause of death believed to be complications from pneumonia. Shown above is the solar eclipse of 20 May 2012 at LA. Notice the placement of the eclipse in the mundane 8th house and the sign Gemini [0ge21] pointing towards the death of an eminent writer. It was conjunct Vidals draconic Mars [0ge57] that formed a conjunction with his Sun [7ge] and Mercury [5ge] all square to Pluto in his 8th house (death) in the draconic zodiac.** The eclipse itself is conjunct Alcyone of Pleaides (a star associated with male homosexuality). It is also conjunct Jupiter which is sesqui Pluto. We will see later that Vidal had his natal Sun in T-square to Jupiter-Pluto. Steven Forrest describes Jupiter-Pluto as someone who appears to lack humility and modesty. He uses the term healthy grandiosity not vanity, not haughtiness but a clear confident sense that one is capable of extraordinary achievements. This is very different from simple egoism because it is based on a real sense of destiny rather than insecurities that underlie simple grandiosity. Was the eclipse pointing towards the possible death of an eminent writer of this nature? Perhaps

yes. The sign Gemini also rules the lungs so that we can see the connection to pneumonia becoming the cause of his death.

Gore Vidal was born on 3 October 1925 at 10:00 am; West Point NY, USA, 41n23, 73w58. His horoscope is given at Astrodatabank. http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Vidal,_Gore Vidal made his living a very good living from challenging power, not holding it. He was wealthy and famous and committed to exposing a system often led by men he knew firsthand. He picked apart politicians, living and dead; mocked religion and prudery; opposed wars from Vietnam to Iraq and insulted his peers like no other. Vidal had his Sun-Mercury square Pluto Squares between Mercury and Pluto suggest a verbal explosiveness. Typically these things are authentic psychological truths that might not be acceptable to the listener. The conscious path requires that not too many truths get sacrificed on the altar of convenience, people pleasing or conflict avoidance. Steven Forrest Pluto is conjunct Sirius "The brilliant constellation of the Dog: it barks forth flame, raves with its fire, and doubles the burning heat of the Sun. Words run ahead of the speakers: the mind is too fast for the mouth.Their hearts start throbbing at the slightest cause, and when speech comes their tongues rave and bark, and constant gnashing imparts the sound of teeth to their utterance. [Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD] Sun forms a T-square with Jupiter-Pluto Jupiter conjunct Vega and Nunki In a good cosmic configuration, Vega is supposed to give artistic talents especially for music and acting, but also a liking for good living. With eccentric artists, this may lead to a debauched life. Robson Pelagus (Nunki) is an indicator of one who may be expected to be an authoritative orator on Sagittarius and Capricorn topics on business, state or foreign affairs.[The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse, p.95-96.] Vidal had concluded long ago that sex is an urge, that love is an impossibility, and that you should never have sex with someone you might actually like, which led him to literally thousands of anonymous trysts throughout the years.** The sole exception was Jim Trimble, his boyhood friend and lover, who died at Iwo Jima in 1945, and whose death Vidal never forgot. Sun is conjunct the star Vindemiatrix

Vindemiatrix is called 'The Widow Maker'. It frequently marks the death of one's partner. It figures strongly and regularly in deaths which are in some way dramatic, newsworthy or are resented in much more than the usual degree by those left behind. [The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse, p.70-72.] Progressions and transits at death Progressed Sun at 7Cp square Mercury 7Li (lord of 8th house of death) has triggered the leading edge of the T-square Transit Uranus-Pluto at 7 Ar-Cp aspects progressed Sun and squares radix Mercury 7Li and Sun 9Li. Together the progression and transit would be strong indicators of death.

** The draconic Sun and Mercury are conjunct Prima Hyadum about which Elsbeth Ebertin writes: May exploit other human beings in quest of power. Staggering increase in sexual urge, a dissolute life, excessive and licentious ways. [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.28.]
