Bill Clintons speech last night at the Democratic National Convention was a brilliant act performed by a master magician. It was also, like all magic, sleightof-hand.
Actually, to be more blunt, it was a toxic, 50-minute bromide of lies, prevarications, and misdirections so fictional that it ought to be placed on the shelves alongside Fifty Shades of Gray (come to think of it, the speech was also sadomasochistic, if the reaction of the Clintonite media was any indicator). There are dozens of problems in the Clinton speech. But lets just start with the top ten: 1. Since 1961, for 52 years now, the Republicans have held the White House 28 years, the Democrats 24. In those 52 years, our private economy has produced 66 million private- sector jobs. So what's the job score? Republicans: twenty-four million. Democrats: forty-two. Technically, this is true. Just as technically, Barack Obama should run screaming with his hair on fire from this statistic. Theres a reason for that: Clinton is measuring presidential tenure purely from inauguration to inauguration. For example, hes taking jobs numbers from January 1981 to January 1985 to measure Reagans first term. Only one problem with this: by this standard, Barack Obama is the second-worst private jobs creator of the last half-century (George W. Bush is first, but still created far more net jobs than Obama overall, putting Obama dead last if you include state and federal jobs in the statistic). Which is why our unemployment rate is terrible. 2. Though I often disagree with Republicans, I actually never learned to hate them the way the far right that now controls their party seems to hate

our president and a lot of other Democrats. This is crapola. Clinton frequently says or implies that Republicans are racists who want to toss grandma off a cliff. Heres what Clinton said (http://www.newsmax.com /InsideCover/BillClintonmealymouthing/2010/09/24/id/371365) about the Tea Partys view of Barack Obama just a couple years ago: They want to turn him into a space alien. It helps that his skin color is different. But their motivation is what it always is: power and money. And when he was president, Clinton was fond of using the FBI to investigate his political opponents. His political guru, Dick Morris, suggested that Clinton try a ricochet strategy to link Republicans with terrorists. Clinton is a hater. He always has been, as Barack Obama should know (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/09/02/Bill-Clinton-to-TedKennedy-In-The-Past-Obama-Would-Be-Carrying-our-Bags). He just hides it well because hes a genius politician. 3. We all know that [Obama] also tried to work with congressional Republicans on health care, debt reduction, and new jobs. Really? Obamacare passed with precisely zero Republican votes, and only after the Democrats used legislative dirty tricks to pass it. On the debt reduction, Obama killed a deal with House Speaker John Boehner by trying to shoehorn massive tax increases into his final proposal. Republicans voted for Obamas proposed and sheepish extension of the payroll tax rates. The Republican House has passed dozens of jobs bills. The Democratic Senate hasnt even brought them to a vote. Obamas budgets are so ridiculously non-moderate that theyve received zero votes in the House and Senate twice (http://hotair.com/archives/2012/05/16/99-0-senate-votes-down-obamasbudget-unanimously-again/). 4. They want to get rid of those pesky financial regulations designed to prevent another crash and prohibit federal bailouts. Ah, the irony. Obamas Dodd-Frank regulations enshrine (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/297452/rules-bailouts-nicole-gelinas) bailouts into law. And as for those pesky financial regulations, Clintons administration is responsible for doing away with the Glass-Steagall Act, the lefts favorite bugaboo on this score. The fact is that Democrats are the largest proponents of bailouts hell, Clinton was championing Obamas GM bailouts a few minutes after this point in the speech. And theyre the ones who designed the regulatory regime that created the subprime mortgage crisis. 5. I had this same thing happen in 1994 and early '95. We could see that the policies were working, that the economy was growing, but most people didn't feel it yet. Thankfully, by 1996, the economy was roaring, everybody felt it, and we were halfway through the longest peacetime expansion in the history of the United States. Clintons policies were not working early in his tenure. The fabled Clinton recovery started under President George H.W. Bush; from January 1992 to January 1993, the H.W. Bush economy created 1.46 million jobs. Clintons job creation numbers only jumped after he admitted that he had raised taxes too much, proceeded to cut capital gains taxes (http://www.forbes.com/sites/charleskadlec/2012/07/16/the-dangerousmyth-about-the-bill-clinton-tax-increase/) in a major way, signed free trade acts, increased the death tax exemption, and worked with a Republican Congress to pass fiscally responsible budgets. The idea that Clinton just kept applying the same leftism in 1995 that he did in 1993 is a lie. 6. President Obama started with a much weaker economy than I did. Listen to me now. No president, no president -- not me, not any of my predecessors -- no one could have fully repaired all the damage that he

Fact Check: Top Ten Clinton DNC Falsehoods

found in just four years. False. The economy Ronald Reagan inherited (http://www.commentarymagazine.com /2012/03/20/obama-campaign-false-premise-worst-economy/) from DNC speaker Jimmy Carter was not significantly better off than the economy Obama inherited from Bush. In November 1980, inflation was increasing at an annualized rate of 12.6%; unemployment was 7.5%. Prime interest rates were at 19%. These statistics were about the same when Reagan took office. Within four years, Reagan had completely turned the economy around in September 1983 alone, the Reagan economy produced over 1.1 million jobs. In November 1984, the unemployment rate was 7.2%, and inflation rate was 4.1%. Theres a reason Reagan won 49 states. And let's not even discuss how Warren G. Harding's administration dealt with the crippled economy left by Woodrow Wilson. 7. The Recovery Act saved or created millions of jobs and cut taxes -- let me say this again -- cut taxes for 95 percent of the American people. Saved or created means nothing. Millions means nothing. This is pure hokum. According to certain analysis of CBO data, the Recovery Act the stimulus cost taxpayers over $4 million per job created (http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/05 /cbo-obama-stimulus-may-have-cost-as-much-as-4-1-million-a-job/). And as for cutting taxes for 95% of the American people, nearly half (http://blog.heritage.org /2012/02/19/chart-of-the-week-nearly-half-of-all-americans-dont-pay-incometaxes/) of all Americans dont pay federal income taxes. So how can you give them a federal tax cut? You cant. These are redistribution checks. 8. And in the last 29 months, our economy has produced about 4.5 million private-sector jobs. We could have done better, but last year the Republicans blocked the president's job plan, costing the economy more than a million new jobs. So here's another job score. President Obama: plus 4.5 million. Congressional Republicans: zero. Love this magical thinking. If President Obama created 4.5 million jobs over the last 29 months, and if were supposed to date responsibility for job creation from the day people take office, then Congressional Republicans, who entered office in January 2011, are responsible for the creation of 2.9 million jobs, and Democrats in Congress are responsible for a massive net loss in jobs. And once again, every time Congressional Republicans attempt to pass jobs measures, President Obama stymies them with the help of his Senate Democratic majority. 9. During this period, more than 500,000 manufacturing jobs have been created under President Obama. Thats the first time manufacturing jobs have increased since the 1990s. Picking and choosing periods again. Over the course of Obamas tenure, approximately 500,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost on net. 10. He has offered a reasonable plan of $4 trillion in debt reduction over a decade, with $2.5 trillion coming from -- for every $2.5 trillion in spending cuts, he raises a dollar in new revenues, 2.5 to 1. And he has tight controls on future spending. That's the kind of balanced approach proposed by the Simpson-Bowles commission, a bipartisan commission. This ones so bad that even the Washington Post, Obamas favorite news outlet, debunked it (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/factchecking-bill-clintons-speech-and-other-democrats-at-the-convention-in-charlotte /2012/09/06/55b9df68-f7e1-11e1-8b93-c4f4ab1c8d13_blog.html). The fact remains that both Simpson and Bowles are fans of Paul Ryan, the Republican VP nominee. And Obama rejected the Simpson-Bowles plan outright. As the Post puts it, virtually

no serious budget analyst agrees with this accounting. This doesnt even get to Clintons take on how many kids have been given healthcare they wouldn't otherwise have under Obamacare (false), his explanation of why health care costs havent risen as fast (bull), his take on Obama gutting welfare work requirements (absolute bunk), his description of Paul Ryans budget (garbage), his line about oil and gas exploration under Obama (nope), his narrative about student loans (a major stretch), his scare statements about Republicans poisoning air and water (nonsense), and his lionization of the GM bailout (horsepucky). In short, this was a Clinton classic: lies, lies, and more lies. It was lies posing as arithmetic, as Clinton put it. He says where he comes from, 2 + 2 = 4. Unfortunately, where he comes from, that may be the only math problem he can get right.

All politicians are liars. This time the Democrats are leading the charge though. Every time a Democrat opens their mouth these days it's a good bet they are lying. But also remember who said, 'no new taxes' and someone else that said 'mission accomplished'. Proof that no one political party has the corner on lying. It's part of the game politicians play to get your trust and ultimately your vote. It's your job to try and figure which one is lying less and will lie less in the future.

Its just inherit with democrats to lie. What are they going to say, brag about the economy, how about employment, how about how much Obama hates Israel, maybe their war on women, or the war on seniors, maybe they could talk about how everything they have implemented failed. Well, the truth would have been more interesting but it certainly wouldn't help their cause. It would help America's cause but not the democrats.

So here are the Democrats, yes we like you, yes we want to work with you but in fact we don't like you, we don't like your politics, you want to bring back slavery, you want women to have no rights, you want the poor to suffer. The driving wedge between poor and the rich, a divided country in politics, racial division has been caused by Democrats, they can restore their respect by doing the one great thing, admitting their faults. Clinton spoke like he did before the mid term election defeat they got back in the 90's, then working with Republicans he got things done. Obama has failed in 4 years despite the mid term defeats in his first term. Never reached out to Republicans, simply blame Congress by ordering to do things his way, if bills get signed on both signs take credit, if his idelogical/socialist ideas get torn down blame the Conservatives. And you know what's worst, what's the very thing Democrats and the mainstream media have been praising today, the stock markets. Republicans have been fighting for reform of entitlement programs since time creation. Democrats have been protecting these things like they were their children. "I hate Wall Street, rich guys keep money to themselves, dont invest in anything, dont want to take risks." Oh but we sing praises when the stock market gets better but when it plummets its the likes of Romneys fault? Wasn't it John McCain that warned about the Housing Crisis in 2003, not to mention the previous Administration under President George W Bush warned about the bubble bursting, he knew that Congress would be facing a tough vote. No one did anything but it's Bush's fault yet under Obama it's Congress fault? The contradiction, the hypocrisy, the hate - how blind can they be?

Lie #11: Bowing is common presidential behavior, as you can easily see by the way Obama and Clinto bowed to each other in the photo-op. This was to defuse America's outrage at seeing their president repeatedly bow slavishly to foreign dignitaries. Presidents of the United States don't normally bow and grovel to anyone.

commentor12345 - I admit, I tend to lean to the right. 1. I agree, the Republican party panders to small-town middle america voters. They would be the mom, apple pie, 4th of July, flag waving types as opposed to Hollywood liberals who have made it near impossible for me to allow my children to watch prime time television. When is the last time you saw a Hollywood movie when someone wasn't getting laid in the first five minutes? If it was germaine to the story, you could understand it, but it seems like it is a requirement for a woman to be successful in Hollywood to have at least one or two sex scenes per movie., As for men, you have to play a gay at least once in your career. Hollywood rewards that. Not personal, it is just not what I consider a typical American lifestyle. 2. How come the northeastern united states is by any standard the most economically productive region but also the most liberal?? --- I don't know what standard you use to measure productivity, but it differs from mine. All real wealth comes from the ground, food, oil, timber, coal, minerals, etc. That is the productivity that keeps the world eating. Not a lot of that kind of activity going on in Hollywood or Washington. Things that most educated liberals have a tendency to disparage. The folks trying to create real wealth are constantly fighting the educated, ignorant liberal establishment. Economic productivity to liberals would be Mining the assets of others. Lawyers, eonomists, actors, actresses, and talking heads are very productive when it comes to payday, however their contributions to society are, for the most part, minimal, if not harmful. Washington is surrounded by Harvard and Yale educated economists, and the country is financial ruin. The fading morality of this country can be, to a large part be laid at the steps of Hollywood. It seems to me that most successful liberals make their wealth by living off the productivity of others. Admittedly, I am a typical old married white guy, born in the USA. One of those guys that are generally portrayed by liberals, and Hollywood as homophobic, racist and ignorant. Say it ain't so.

The ONLY difference was that Clinton was actually smart enough to read the writing on the wall when the reps took the Congress two years in, FORCED him to their way and dragged him, kicking and screaming, to welfare reform and cutting spending. The unfortunate side effect was that the reps saved his ass and his presidency and he was re-elected for 4 MORE years of scandal and disgrace. It's CLINTON, folks. I am genuinly curious of how conservatives would respond to these two questions: 1. Conservatives have rightly and justifiably called out the progressive movement for inciting division & resentment. So, how is it NOT class warfare and division when republicans constantly demonize the "media elites", ivy league colleges, Hollywood, Boston, New York City, "the beltway" etc...Can you really say the republican party isn't pandering to small-town middle america voters who resent the "yuppie" lifestyle? 2. Both of your stated premises are baseless. The first one is just your bias refusing to admit that what conservatives are objecting to is the liberalism that infests those cities and those institutions. It is not a demonization of ALL New Yorkers, or a sweeping indictment of everybody living there. But when the voters continullay elect libtards and progressives like Bloomberg, I guess we do have suspicions about how smart they really are. California is bankrupt, but they will not stop spending. That is one very blue state. That was easy, because your premise is so ridiculous.Let's see if the next premise is any better, shall we? No, sorry-- no improvement. Just because you think the "blue" regions are "smarter" does not make it so. They are densely populated, so there are naturally more colleges and universities per square mile. That educated citizens work at colleges and universities should not surprise you, but you do seem surprised. But you also take the great leap to suggest that they are actually smarter, and that the businesses in the region are owned and operated by liberals to the same % of the population in the area. You take an even bigger leap to state that they are the most productive regions of the country, but that is not necessarily true. If it is true, have you given any consideration to natural resources in the region, waterways and ports that enable commerce, or anything else that may have absolutely no relationship to what you are suggesting? Your definition of "productive" is not provided, and you have not told us how you arrived at such a conclusion. Generalities and theories are not facts. You have just pulled this stuff out of thin air, and you have no demographics to back it up. This is why conservatives do not respect so many liberals-- the arguments begin with a false premise.

1) Not at all ... to me Conservatives/Republicans/TEA (taxed enough already) ppl want independence (get out of my way) from big gov intrusion. They aspire for all Americans to be successful if America is working and strong again then we all win.Conservatives believe in Americas exceptionlism, the Constitution and its founding fathers. I see DNC as the party of co-dependence the party of victims the real vultures praying on the weak, the elderly, drug addicts they want that codepence much like a drug dealer to the point where ppl dont need to think for themselves anymore never mind, the government will be there to rescue u, if u get in trouble if you get a loan you cant afford and eventually need to walk away big gov will be there to protect you if u need tattoo removals that u shouldnt have gotten in the first place, dont worry , the Dims will come up with some stimulus money that not only will give you that free stuff, but will also end up in pockets of the union thugs to protect them if u came to US illegally and need a place to hide, go to school, get healthcare dont worry, Nancy and Harry will be there with open arms to protect u as long as they have your vote. If you live on a beach that gets hit every year by hurricanes and tropical storms and your house gets destroyed every year dont worry, big gov will be there to the rescue and blame others for not coming to the rescue fast enough. The list goes on. And of course u cant just cant be a purveyor without the taxpayers that's when things get ugly the unions thugs (SaulAlinskians types), the Liberal Media, Liberal Top Earners in Hollywood, Wall street, Academia step in to stir up the crowds and vilify the opposition. In the end, its all about control. 2) Thats the irony and the hypocrisy of the Left Democrat Politicians, Hollywood entertainers, Liberal Media/Academia are notorious for stirring up the crowds to demonize Wall Street and other peoples successes, when they are the top earners that profit and prosper under Republican administrations. Its the pitched-forks-and-torches mentality Dims dont want to be held responsible for bankrupting the country so they create a sideshow (OWS, Sandra Flunky) distractions to rouse the mobs.

1. Put yourself in the Right's shoes. There IS a class of elite media. And they ARE out to misrepresent you, often purposefully. How else can you deal with it, besides (at the very least) pointing it out? Which is, by it's nature, a divisive action. One could easily turn the question around suggest that it's the very elitist and biased nature of them, that makes them divisive. 2. Because businessmen, above all, do what benefits their business. Their CEOs may be all about the free market, but when they see an opportunity to get involved in legislation that will help them and hurt their competitors - they go for it. Which is what's ironic about the Left and their views on regulating business. It is their very attempt at regulation that opens the door to getting in bed with the very companies they regulate. For every new regulation, a special interest is born. The Right says, who

cares? Let the CEOs live or die... but if you keep feeding alligators, expect to get bit. Historically, the northeast has had the most industry because that's where the industrial revolution started; and if you factor in their crumbling infrastructure and crippling social debt... they are hardly the most economically productive anymore. So if democrats do a wonderful job how come Jimmy Carter didn't speak? BTW I would take a Clinton presidency if the democrats reduce EVERYTHING back to Clinton level numbers per capita. So 50% less gov size, 50% less medicade and medicare size, 50% less military, 50% less welfare size, no national health care system since obviously there were no dying people in the streets. By all means, give us a clinton with a frugal republican congress. Even Canada froze its spending for 10 years. The Canadian Premier explained you cannot pay for social programs without thriving business. If you debate proggies, throw Clinton in their face. Ask them how Clinton could do all the grand things he did WITHOUT massive overspending. And the tax rates weren't astronomically high either. Simply put, without Clinton's republican congress he would have been the first Obama.

Me thinks that Clinton just got his revenge on O. For such a smart man he must have realized that "facts" would be checked. He has played the good Democrat for his wife. All that is now needed is to put some of these mistatements and their corrections in ads and play them to the real America.

I got a better idea. Have the Romney campaign hire a telegenic looking woman and then film a video of her explaining why she is breaking up with Obama. It will be a hit.

Is that an accusation against the latest Romney ad? Do you actually have facts to back it up? Or are you just trying to be snarky and clever? And as long as we're discussing advertising, how about that Dem ad a few weeks ago in which a bunch of women claimed they were no longer voting Republican due to the "War on Women"... and then it turned out all of those women were hard-core, left-wing Democrats?

So now politics has boiled itself down to one side making claims and the other side simply calling them liars, ad infinitum. Awesome. That's going to take us far.

HOR_EMPEROR

Nope. Because facts are facts. Ryan's speech contained no lies, no matter how loudly the Dems claim it did. Clinton's contained many lies, of which these were just the most obvious. Dems hate the idea of objective truth, because their entire belief system is built on fantasy, envy, and falsehood.
A LIKE REPLY 9 hours ago in reply to evolved1 5 Likes F

EVOLVED1

That's the thing, many fact-checkers have proven that Ryan's speech DID contain lies. But then the fact-checkers get attacked. Romney supporters are not going to believe the fact-checkers because, well, they are going to support Romney no matter what. That Obama removed the work requirement from welfare is a flat-out lie. But Romney supporters want to to believe that, so they will. The Janesville plant lie was another one we know isn't true. Unless you are going to vote for Romney. Now on the other side, fact-checkers are being used to call Bill Clinton out for lying. Obama supporters aren't going to believe those fact-checkers because they don't want to. So we've come to the point where politicians can say anything they want to their bases and it really doesn't matter if the truth is pointed out. The lie remains. And this is somehow going to move swing voters one way or the other? I don't see how. Swing voters decide elections and I wouldn't be surprised, nor blame them, if they just went ahead and stayed home on Nov. 6.

Now, you are the liar. Plain and simple, you a a liar. Obama "waived" the tight work requirements for a few governors. (If he can "waive" it for them, he can certainly "waive" it for everybody after the election.) The law was written to specifically define what work is, because the Republicans knew the Dems would try to change the definition. That was a key sticking point that Republicans insisted on. And it was included in the bill. Now, Obama has "waived" that work requirement to allow job "training" and even searching for a job to be included-- exactly what Republicans knew would eventually happen. Except, there is nothing in the law that gives Obama the authority to "waive" that part of the law. The lowlife Obama seems to think that he can just "waive" laws, as he did with the immigration laws. There is no question that Obama waived the work requirement. No question whatsoever. But you come in here and lecture us about lying, and then blatantly lie. You are a liar.

His opinion is not relevant to the issue of whether you and your libtard pals were lying about what Obama did. The lie has now been shown to be a lie-- Obama waived the work requirement, illegally. He will lose in court, but he waived them. It is of no importance whether somebody thinks the law has been "gutted" or not, since that is opinion. That is and has not been the argument, except that you bring it up now that your lies have been exposed. Typical libtard: Lie, lie, lie. When proven to be lying, argue that it really doesn't matter.

REDRUM

Ron Haskins, a former Republican House committee aide who was instrumental in the 1996 overhaul of the welfare program: "The Obama administration should not have unilaterally changed the work-requirement rules." But Haskins said the Romney claim that Obamas plan will gut welfare reform is very misleading. I do not think it ends welfare reform or strongly undermines welfare reform, said Haskins, co-director of the Brookings Institutions Center on Children and Families. Each state has to say what they will do and how that reform will either increase employment or lead to better employment of recipients."

He didn't remove the work requirement, he made it toothless. The end result is nearly identical - people will have the ability in some states to put in 1 hour a week in some approved activity (previously 30) to collect.

So at the end of the day we should simply let the liars continue to fool the American public that is so uneducated about the affairs in this country? Sad position to take. That being said, seems to me that one side might embellish while the other straight out lies with a smile on their face. You decide....right?
