HANNAH MARTIN APPROVED In our congregational meeting, September 16, Hannah Martin was approved to become our part-time Director of Childrens Ministries. She received a 95% approval and will begin employment this weekend (September 23).

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

You should have received a call this week indicating that our members overwhelmingly voted to have Hannah Martin as our new Childrens Director. We are so excited to have Hannah Martin here for her first weekend of service. Hannah has begun planning for her work with our children up through fifth grades and we hope you will make her feel welcome. One of our more pressing needs is to find appropriate housing for Hannah as she will need a place to stay each Friday and Saturday evenings. While hosting her, it will also be necessary to provide for her meals. She will leave on Sunday evenings after her responsibilities with our childrens ministry have been fulfilled. We are seeking to find single females, senior citizens, or families of children or teens to host her while she is in town. We would like to find six who would keep her for one month at a time and who would also provide her meals for her while in town. This is a great opportunity to meet a need for a sister in Christ and for any of our parents who would like to have their children to be around a great Christian influence. If you can help, please call me as soon as possible and share with us what month you could help meet this need. My number is 740.550.9882. Thanks for showing hospitality and for helping make a Hannahs ministry possible here in Lancaster. In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

OCTOBER KEENAGERS EVENT: On Friday, October 12, we are traveling to Jackson, Ohio and the Bob Evans Farm Festival. We will be departing at 8:00 AM and returning in the late afternoon. The cost for transportation and admission is $9.00 per person. (Payable when you sign up.) Those attending will assume responsibility for their lunch on the grounds. A sign-up sheet has been posted.
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

This week we are continuing our current series from the book of II Corinthians. This week the study will be Restoring The Backslider (II Corinthians 2:5-11). On September 30, the theme is The Quest For Peace Of Mind (II Cor. 2:12-17). If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. WEDNESDAYS: This week we will continue our study on The Church Through The Centuries. I do invite you to join us for the 10:00 AM or 6:30 PM sessions. FINAL THOUGHT: It seems that no matter what you do, someone always knew that you would.

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
For the past several weeks these articles have focused on worship. For the next few they will center on outreach. The term outreach has been defined in the American Heritage Dictionary as a systematic attempt to provide services beyond conventional limits, as to particular segments of a community. As we consider outreach in a Christian context, the particular segment of the community we seek to impact is primarily the unchurched, or those who have no relationship with Jesus. This may involve getting pretty far outside of our comfort zone and going beyond conventional limits. Many of us are uncomfortable in new environments, around new people or doing different things. This is part of the challenge in that outreach involves being out in the community and reaching beyond our walls to make a positive difference in people who are probably different from us. Father, help us to see past differences and recognize the love you feel for all mankind and help us, to not be willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

We want to express our sympathy to the family of Dorothy Herman who passed away on Tuesday, September 18th. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Fall Retreat
On October 12-14 there will be a fall retreat in Findlay, OH at Camp Berry. This retreat is based on Kyle Idlemans Not a Fan study that we are offering as a small group as well as forming the basis for our current sermon series. The cost for the weekend is $30 per person and includes meals and lodging. This will be a great opportunity to study with other Christians, make new friends, worship and fellowship in a wonderful setting. See Scott Brown for details or call him @ (740) 475-7721. Space is somewhat limited so reserve your spot as soon as possible.

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE! At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people, and turning the world upside down. We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would please take a few minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card, located on the back of the pew, you can then place it in the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For more information about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at Brad@new-churches.org or call him at 740.550.9882. Have a great week and may God bless your life.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______________________________________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE WE EXIST TO
