Course Objectives: This subject deals with economic operation of power systems, Hydro thermal scheduling and modeling of turbines, generators and automatic controllers. It emphasizes on single area and two area load frequency control and reactive power control. Major Topics Covered in the Course: Economic scheduling of thermal and hydrothermal systems, Modelling of speed governor, turbine, generator and excitation system, Load frequency control of single area and two area systems, Reactive power control.

Course Outcomes: After completion of the course the student is able to know the importance and methods of economic load scheduling ,load frequency control and reactive power control in a power system.
