Meditation Commentary House of Prayer

Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. I Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
The Lord Jesus Christ is a Triune God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We as Christians who have the salvation of Christ, interact with each part of the Trinity. God the Father is the one whom we speak to through Jesus Christ, our perfect High Priest. The Holy Spirit, is our helper, comforter and intercessor whom God poured out on His believers nearly 2000 years ago. One the most important things a Christian must consider is that our bodies are the temple of the Holy spirit. When we hurt ourselves by letting sin reign in our lives, we are defiling the Holy temple of God. We are called to live holy, and righteous lives, which is our service to God. If it were not for Gods benevolence and love for us by sending His son, Gods wrath would still remain unsatisfied. However, we have forgiveness, by Christs perfect sacrifice, and causing Christs righteousness to be in place of our sinful account. So then what does it mean to be the temple of God? What does it mean to be Holy? Where does a believer start? A good place would be filtering what we let into our bodies. Movies, music, books, pictures, art, and conversations are all examples of external influences that can heavily

influence what we dwell on, and consequently how we act. The apostle Paul admonishes that we monitor our thoughts diligently in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We are also to recognize strongholds the Devil might already have in our lives, and bring everything to Christ in prayer: confessing and forsaking our old ways, and thanking, praising, and exalting Him. This is a continual process, and through it all one should never cease praying, that is, being in constant communion with Christ. We must strive to be the Holy Temple of God,: a House of Prayer.
