The St. Francis Xavier CWL News:

CWL NOMINATIONS: The S.F.X. C.W.L. Council is now accepting nominations for the 2013 - 2015 C.W.L. Executive. To make a nomination please contact Lore Coyne at 613-433-9298 by Sept. 30th.

n October 2011, Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" would begin Oct. 11, 2012 and conclude on Nov. 24, 2013. Locally, Bishop Mulhall will preside at an Opening Mass to be celebrated at St. Columbkille Cathedral at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11 th,, 2012. All faithful of the diocese are invited to join Bishop Mulhall and priests of the diocese for this liturgy.

How does the Year of Faith affect the average Catholic? Every baptized Catholic is called through baptism to be a disciple of Christ and proclaim the Gospel. The year of Faith is an opportunity for each and every Catholic to renew their baptismal call by living out the everyday moments of their lives with faith, hope and love. This everyday witness is necessary for proclaiming the Gospel to family, friends, neighbours and society. In order to witness to the Gospel, Catholics must be strengthened through celebrating weekly Sunday Mass and the sacrament of reconciliation.

LIFE CHAIN IN RENFREW: On Sunday, September 30, we invite all to stand in prayerful solidarity with your pro-life family, friends and neighbours for one hour between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. We meet in front of the Renfrew post office. COLLECTION OF THE NEEDS OF THE CHURCH IN CANADA: Each year, Catholics are invited to collaborate with their Bishops through the annual Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada. This collection is being held today. Throughout 2012, many important events are taking place in the Church: the Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization, the canonization of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, the 50th anniversary celebrations of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, as well as the launching of the Year of Faith by Pope Benedict XVI. The Bishops of Canada are closely connected to all of these events, which are occasions to gather in unity and communion. Your contribution to the Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will support the Bishops in their ministry to teach, sanctify and govern. The effectiveness of the Churchs existing services to fulfil its mission in this world and provide spiritual leadership is involved. The Bishops of Canada thank you in advance for your generosity and your commitment to the Church, following Christs example.

BAPTISMS: We welcome to the Christian Community the children baptized at St. Francis Xavier last Sunday. As the Parents and Sponsors made a commitment to share with these children our Catholic faith, we as a faith community offer our ongoing support to
