Learning Outcomes

1. Write lesson plans integrating language skills and language content. 2. Devise a variety of activities to teach and assess language skills and language content. 3. Design remedial and enrichment activities. 4. Use literary texts to plan and design appropriate activities. 5. Design test items to test language skills. 6. Teach and manage English language teaching and learning in simulated primary classroom situations.
7. Assess own learning progress through reflections/journals and progress checklist.

Synopsis

This course aims to equip students with the skills to select, plan and implement lessons based on the current primary school English Language syllabus. It also provides opportunities for learners to design remedial and enrichment activities as well as designing activities based on literary texts. It focuses on the topics of Lesson Planning, Testing and Evaluation, The Teaching and Assessing of Listening and Speaking Skills, The Teaching and Assessing of Reading Skills, The Teaching and Assessing of Writing Skills, The Teaching and Assessing of Vocabulary, Spelling and Dictation, The Teaching and Assessing of Literature for Primary Schools, The Teaching of Grammar, Integration of Language Skills and Language Content. Learners will be able to reflect and give feedback on their learning.

Kursus ini melengkapkan pelajar dengan kemahiran pengajaran dan pembelajaran sesuai dengan kurikulum bahasa Inggeris di sekolah rendah. Ia memberi pelajar pendedahan kepada elemen penting di dalam merancang pengajaran dan pembelajaran dari aspek pengintegrasian kemahiran dan isi kandungan, pengujian dan penilaian, dan penyediaan bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang berkesan. Pendedahan pengajaran mikro dan makro di dalam bilik darjah juga diberi. Pelajar diberi peluang untuk membuat refleksi dan memberi maklumbalas untuk meningkatkan kefahaman tentang proses serta amalan pengajaran dan pembelajaran mereka.
