Barefoot Baby Bootique Pattern Number 1

Robin ~ All in One Romper with Hood


To fit a 20 inch reborn baby

Materials: 1 pair of UK Size 8 needles (4mm) 1 pair of UK Size 10 needles (3 1/4mm) 150 g Jarol New Arrivals Baby Randoms yarn (comes in 200g balls). Shade used in above picture: 306 4 Buttons Tension: 11 sts to 5 cms (2 inches) over st st on 4mm needles. Abbreviations: K= Knit, P = Purl, Tog = Together, St(s) = stitch(es), Inc = Increase, Dec = Decrease, st st = Stocking Stitch, Over, Increase S1 = Slip one, PSSO = Pass Slipped Stitch Over, Inc = Increase

Romper:

Legs: (make 2) With size 10 needles, cast on 30 stitches and rib (k1, p1) four rows. Change to 8's and increase as follows: K3, *inc one in next stitch, k1*. Rep from * to * to last two stitches and K2. (42 stitches) Continue in stocking stitch, beginning with a purl row, until the leg measures 14 cms, ending with a purl row. For the first leg you make, break the yarn and slip the stitches on to a stitch holder or spare needle. When making the second leg, do not break the yarn and carry on as follows: The Body: Knit to the last stitch, then with the right side of the other leg facing, knit the last stitch of the right leg with the first stitch of the left leg together. Knit across the remaining stitches (83 stitches). Starting with purl and continuing in stocking stitch, work 9 rows. End with a purl row. Cast off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows for the front opening. (77 stitches). Continue in stocking stitch straight until the body measures 13 cm s from joining the legs. End with a purl row.

Divide for armholes: Knit 18, turn and complete the right side as follows: Stocking stitch 11 rows straight ending at the front edge. Shape Neck: Cast off 2 stitches at the beginning of the next row. Decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge on the next 3 rows Work one row Decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge on the next row (11 stitches) Stocking stitch 3 rows straight ending at the side edge, Shape Shoulder: Cast off 5 stitches at the beginning of the next row. Work 1 row Cast off the remaining 6 stitches. With the right side of your work facing, rejoin the yarn at the armhole division and knit 41 stitches for the back Turn and work 21 straight stocking stitch rows on these 41 stitches Shape Shoulder: Cast off 5 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Cast off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Cast off the remaining stitches With the right side of your work facing, rejoin the yarn to the remaining stitches and knit to the end Stocking stitch 11 rows straight ending at the front edge. Shape Neck: Cast off 2 stitches at the beginning of the next row. Decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge on the next 3 rows Work one row Decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge on the next row (11 stitches) Stocking stitch 3 rows straight ending at the side edge, Shape Shoulder: Cast off 5 stitches at the beginning of the next row. Work 1 row

Cast off the remaining 5 stitches. Sleeves (make 2) With size 10 needles cast on 24 stitches and rib 4 rows Change to size 8 needles and increase as follows K4, *increase in next stitch, K1, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, increase in next stitch, K3 (33 stitches) Next row: purl Continue in stocking stitch until the sleeve measures 12 cms, or the required length, ending with a purl row. Cast off. Hood: With size 10 needles cast on 75 stitches and rib 4 rows Change to size 8 needles and stocking stitch 2 rows Continuing in stocking stitch, decrease 1 stitch at each end of the next 5 rows (67 stitches) Continue in stocking stitch straight until the hood measures 9 cms, ending purl. Cast off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 10 rows, then cast off the remaining 37 stitches. Button Band: With size 10 needles cast on 5 stitches and rib until the band measures up the front of the romper from the cast off stitches to the neck. Buttonhole band: Work as given for button band but make 4 buttonholes (rib2, yarn forward, knit two together, rib 1) and even intervals along the band. Making up: Join the inside leg seams and lower front seam to the cast off stitches at front opening. Join the shoulder seams and the sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place into the armholes. Sew the front bands in place sewing the cast on edge of the front bands to the cast off stitches on the front opening. Sew the back seam of the hood and then sew the hood in place at the neck edge. Sew on the

buttons and there you have it. Follow the pressing instructions on the yarn ball band. Here are some variations of this pattern that I have knitted to show how versatile it is.
