ESR-1682 for the threaded rods subjected to water at temperatures up to 140/F (60/C). 5.0 CONDITIONS OF USE The Hilti HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchor Systems described in this report comply with, or are suitable alternatives to what is specified in, those codes listed in Section 1.0 of this report, subject to the following conditions: 5.1 The Hilti HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchor System is permitted to be used to resist dead loads, live loads and short-term loads, such as those resulting from wind or earthquake. When anchors are used to resist short-term loads, such as wind or seismic loads, allowable loads shall be calculated in accordance with Section 4.1 of this report. The anchors shall be installed in accordance with Hiltis instructions and this report. In the event of a conflict between Hiltis instructions and this report, this report shall govern. The HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchors shall be installed in holes predrilled using a carbide-tipped masonry drill bit manufactured within the range of the maximum and minimum dimensions of ANSI B212.15-1994, or with a Hilti matched-tolerance diamond core bit having the same nominal diameter. Special inspection in accordance with Section 4.2.2 of this report shall be provided for all anchor installations. Calculations, drawings and details demonstrating that the HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchor System complies with this report shall be submitted to the building official. The calculations and details shall be prepared by a registered design professional where required by the jurisdiction in which the project is to be constructed. The Hilti HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchor System is not permitted for use in conjunction with fire-resistancerated construction. Exceptions are: Anchors resist wind or seismic loading only. For other than wind or seismic loading, special consideration is given to fire exposure conditions. 5.8 The Hilti HIT RE 500 Adhesive Anchor System may be used to resist tension and shear loads in overhead or wall installations. In overhead and wall tension applications, consideration shall be given to the effects of elevated temperature conditions on anchor performance. Figure 1 shows load reduction factors for elevated temperatures. Since an ICC-ES acceptance criteria for evaluating data to determine the performance of adhesive anchors subjected to fatigue or shock loading is unavailable at this time, the use of these anchors under these conditions is beyond the scope of this report.

For anchors installed at edge distances less than ccr, or spacing less than scr, or both, the bond or concrete values given in Tables 4 and 5 shall be reduced in accordance with the reduction factors given in Table 6. The reduced bond- or concrete-strength anchor values shall be compared with the corresponding allowable steel strength, and the lesser value shall be used to establish allowable anchor capacity. For installations with 13/4-inch (44.5 mm) edge distance, Table 7 applies. 4.2 Installation:

5.5 5.6

4.2.1 General: Installation requirements are shown for various threaded rod sizes in Table 1, and for deformed reinforcement bars in Table 3. Holes shall be drilled to the required depth using an electro-pneumatic hammer-drill, in roto-hammer mode, with a carbide-tipped drill bit that complies with ANSI Specification B212.15-1994, or a Hilti matched-tolerance diamond core bit. Holes shall be cleaned of dust and debris using a wire brush and oil-free compressed air, as required. For holes which are drilled with a core bit, the hole should be immediately flushed with water until the water from the hole runs clear; brushed with a wire brush; and flushed again until the water runs clear. Holes are permitted to be dry, damp or wet (including standing water) at the time of anchor installation. A clean mixing nozzle shall be attached to the cartridge, and the first three trigger pulls from each refill pack shall be discarded. The holes shall be filled one-half to two-thirds full with the epoxy adhesive, starting at the bottom to avoid entrapment of air. The steel anchor rod or rebar is installed in the hole with a rotating motion until the bottom of the hole is reached. Minor adjustments to the anchor position may be made during the gel time as given in Table 8. The design load may be applied after the cure time given in Table 8 has elapsed. 4.2.2 Special Inspection: Special inspection in accordance with Section 1704 of the IBC or Section 1701 of the UBC shall be provided for all anchor installations. The special inspector shall record compliance of the carbide drill bit with ANSI B212.15-1994, and compliance of: the Hilti diamond core drill bit nominal diameter; the hole depth and cleanliness; the product description, including product name, rod type, diameter and length; and the adhesive expiration date. The special inspector also shall verify anchor installation as being in accordance with this report and the manufacturers published installation instructions. 4.2.3 Compliance with ANSI/NSF Standard 61, Drinking Water System ComponentsHealth Effects: HIT RE 500 is recognized for use under ANSI/NSF Standard 61, for contact with potable water systems. Post-Consumer Recycled Content: Portion of material or product derived from discarded consumer waste that has been recovered for use as a raw material [e.g., plastic bottles, newspaper] Post-Industrial Recycled Content: Portion of material or product derived from recovered industrial and mfg. materials that are diverted from municipal solid waste for use in a different mfg. process, prior to use by a consumer [e.g., fly-ash in concrete or synthetic gypsum board, both of which are by-products of coal-burning power plants]. Spills and scraps from the original manufacturing process that are combined with other constituents after a minimal amount of reprocessing for use in further production of the same product do not qualify. Manufactured: Final assembly of components into building product that is furnished and installed by trades [e.g., if the hardware comes from Dallas, TX, the lumber from Keene, NH, and the joist is assembled in Kent, WA; then the location of final assembly is Kent, WA]. www.gpsvisualizer.com/calculators can be used to calculate straight-line distance between project site / New York, NY and location of manufacture and raw material source. Note: location noted on material data sheets is often corporate location; need manufacturer to verify actual manufacture location. Raw Materials: Virgin or recovered resources from which the products components are made [i.e., before processing or manufacturing]. Rapidly Renewable: Materials and products made from raw materials that are harvested within a 10-year cycle [e.g., bamboo, cork, linoleum, fast-growing poplar, wheatboard, wool carpet]. FSC Certified: Wood-based products that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and carry a Chain-of-Custody certificate number from the vendor or manufacturer. VOC Content: The quantity of volatile organic compounds contained in products such as adhesives, sealants and architectural coatings. VOC content is to be reported in grams/liter or lbs/gallon, less water and any exempt compounds/solvents.
