INTRODUCTION

Routers are physical devices that join multiple wired or wireless networks together. Technically, a wired or wireless router is a Layer 3 gateway, meaning that the wired/wireless router connects networks (as gateways do), and that the router operates at the network layer of the OSI model. By maintaining configuration information in a piece of storage called the routing table, wired or wireless routers also have the ability to filter traffic, either incoming or outgoing, based on the IP addresses of senders and receivers. Some routers allow the home networker to update the routing table from a Web browser interface. Broadband routers combine the functions of a router with those of a network switch and a firewall in a single unit. A Wireless router is a device that performs the functions of a router but also includes the functions of a wireless access point and a network switch. They are commonly used to allow access to the Internet or a computer network without the need for a cabled connection. It can function in a wired LAN (local area network), a wireless only LAN (WLAN), or a mixed wired/wireless network. A Wi-Fi technology pioneer and recognized leader in carrier Wi-Fi applications, Ruckus Wireless today introduced the industrys first complete, end-to-end managed, wireless broadband access (WBA) solution that gives service providers a cost-effective, build-asyou-grow model for offering broadband data services in developing urban environments at a fraction of the cost of alternative approaches. The Ruckus WBA solution includes outdoor mesh APs, customer premises equipment (CPE), a new line of smart Wi-Fi backhaul systems and system-wide remote management. Ruckus has combined high-speed 802.11n technology with its patented, state-of-the-art intelligent antenna designs and innovative dynamic beamforming software to overcome interference problems that have plagued many outdoor Wi-Fi networks, delivering more extensive, stable coverage than conventional outdoor Wi-Fi systems. The Ruckus dynamic antenna system also enables more efficient spatial reuse in wireless mesh networks by varying the direction of each packet transmission, adjacent mesh APs often can transmit simultaneously on the same channel thereby maximizing network capacity.

RUCKUS ROUTERS
Ruckus basiclly provides us with three kinds of routers Zoneplex Indoor,Zoneplex Outdoor and MediaPlex CPE usually called as the Access Points (APs) Indoor APs Smart WLAN 802.11 systems for large-scale indoor deployments. Outdoor APs Smart WLAN 802.11 systems for outdoor deployments. MediaFlex APs Carrier-class, multimedia Wi-Fi customer premise equipment for broadband service providers.

MEDIA FLEX ROUTERS

Media Flex routers are again available in different series Ruckus MediaFlex 7200 Series is two products in one. It is the worlds first CPE specifically designed and optimized for broadband operators building large-scale Wireless Broadband Access Networks. It acts as a wireless access gateway, providing reliable connectivity to Wireless Broadband Access nodes, as well as an extended range indoor 802.11n (2.4 GHz) access point. The Ruckus Wireless Broadband Access solution lets operators deliver reliable, indoor/outdoor, always-on, broadband services using Smart Wi-Fi technology at a fraction of the cost and complexity of conventional alternatives.

The MediaFlex 7000 series:It is the first carrier-class 802.11n multimedia system designed to reliably distribute High Definition (HD) IP-based video (IPTV) over Wi-Fi. A complete solution for video-grade wireless networking, the MediaFlex system consists of the Ruckus MediaFlex 7811 multimedia access point (AP) and the Ruckus MediaFlex 7111 multimedia Wi-Fi adapter. With these two fully-loaded products, consumers can now enjoy multimedia content anywhere in their homes, all without wires. MediaFlex 2800 series :Today, theres more multimedia content and more ways to enjoy it than ever. And with the MediaFlex 2800 series, consumers gain complete freedom and flexibility to distribute this voice, video, and data content all over their homes, all over standard Wi-Fi all without wires. The first wireless multimedia service platform of its kind, the MediaFlex 2800 series combines innovative, patent-pending smart antenna and traffic management technologies into a single system. It gives broadband operators unprecedented visibility into and control over subscriber Wi-Fi environments, all the way down to end devices. And it lets service providers accelerate deployment, minimize installations costs, and maximize service potential. MediaFlex 2200 series: For broadband operators building large-scale broadband wireless networks, Ruckus Wireless presents the first system purpose-built and optimized to help subscribers get and stay connected the MediaFlex 2200 series (a one port version, the MediaFlex 2211 and a five-port version, the MediaFlex 2225). The MediaFlex 2200 series is two products in oneacting as a high-gain wireless access gateway as well as an extended range indoor 802.11b/g access point The MediaFlex 2200 series gives operators the signal strengthand the coverage area demanded in those Wi-Fi-hostile urban environments.
