Introduction to Guitar The beginning guitar is designed for students who have the desire to learn to play guitar.

Throughout the semester, students will learn the basic elements of music notation and basic guitar techniques. By the end of the semester, students will be able to perform duets with other class members, as well as perform as a guitar ensemble. Beginning Guitar Expectations Be prepared for class every day with a pencil and your folder. Enter the room on time and quickly get out your guitar and other. Once your guitar is out, tune it and get set up in your seat your music notebook and other necessities. Do not interrupt or talk to others when the teacher or other students are addressing or playing for the class. Always make your best effort to play with proper technique and posture. Put your guitar and accessories away properly. The last two minutes of the class will be used as time to pack up. Return to a seat until the bell rings. No food or drinks (except water) Use in class practice time effectively. Beginning Guitar is graded on a points system. Points earned divided by points possible determines the final percentage. The point values of various assignments are as follows. Class participation is worth 100 points per marking period. Please see the class participation rubric. Written tests are worth 100 points each Playing tests are worth 50 points each Written Quizzes and Playing Quizzes are worth 25 points each. All class work and homework assignments are worth 5 points each.
