Our organization, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) is turning 40 years on January 16, 2013. And as the saying goes, life begins at 40. To mark the milestone, the IBP has slated several activities, including the holding of the 14th National Lawyers Convention to coincide with the 40th Founding Anniversary. The event will unfold on January 16-18 in the newlybuilt SMX Convention Center in the premiere city of the South and the biggest in the world, Davao City. As fitting tribute to the first IBP National President, Justice Jose BL. Reyes, we have adopted as the convention theme his famous dictum No Master But Law; No Guide But Conscience; No Aim But Justice. The convention will kick off with a grand opening ceremonies in the morning of January 16, 2013 with no less than His Excellency, President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, as the Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honor. This will be followed by a Grand Ball in the evening of the same day with the Honorable Ma. Lourdes Aranal-Sereno, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. The convention will be capped with an awarding and closing ceremonies in the morning of January 18, 2013 with Honorable Vice President Jejomar C. Binay as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
