Deadlines and Principles related to GMAT/GRE in 2012

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), GRE General Test or GRE revised General Test are considered. GMAT and GRE are equal in admissions to Masters degree i.e. taking the other is not considered better. GRE Subject Test is not used. GRE result which is comparable to GMAT is estimated using the guidelines provided by ETS (Educational Testing Service), see comparison table. GMAT/GRE must be taken on 15 February 2007 or later. GMAT/GRE cannot be taken after the application deadline, 15 February 2012. If multiple scores are provided, taking account of the above time limits, the highest score will be the one used. GMAT/GRE needs to be available for School of Business to analyze by 15 February 2012 at 16.15 (4.15 pm, GMT +2hrs). The (preliminary) test result can be written into the online application system of Aalto University. To ensure that the application arrives in time, it is also possible to fill in the online application writing there only test date without test result, especially if the test date is close to the application deadline. The result must then be informed separately preferably attached when delivering the paper version of the application and the necessary enclosures (if necessary can also be informed to admissions(at)aalto.fi using an informative subject title). When delivering the paper version of the online application and necessary enclosures at least the preliminary GMAT/GRE test result needs to be enclosed. GMAT test taker usually gets a preliminary test result in paper immediately after taking the test. GRE test taker can see the preliminary Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning Scores in the computer immediately after taking the test. However, usually those cannot be printed. (S)he could write them in paper and when giving the paper out, transfer the information for example to mobile phone. Enclosed to the Master's application, (s)he can then inform at least the test

date, preliminary result and test place. GRE result received through My GRE Account must be informed as soon as possible! Official score report of GMAT/GRE must come directly from the test organization for the applicant to be admitted. The schools where the applicant wishes the test results to be send are chosen in the test session. Aalto University School of Economics uses still HSE's old GMAT Program Code C1N-9F-85 (School of Economics - MSc Degree Programs). Aalto University uses code 7364 in GRE. Please book your test session early enough. It is also useful to get to know the test structure and practice the test before taking it. More information in Admission Guide and: www.mba.com (GMAT) www.gmac.com (GMAT) www.ets.org/gre (GRE)

Language Test requirements in 2012

When applying to English degree programs, a language certificate is needed. Only the following test results and levels are accepted: IELTS (Academic): Overall Band Score 6.5 and Writing 5.5 Toefl iBT: Total Score 92 and Writing 22 (or TOEFL PBT: Total Score 580 and Writing 4.0) Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), grade A, B or C IELTS and Toefl certificates are valid for two years, thus the oldest test result which is acceptable in the Masters admissions 2012 is the result dated on 15 February 2010. CAE and CPE are valid forever, thus there are no restrictions for the oldest date in them. Please note that GMAT/GRE is not a language test. Thus, if a language test is required of the applicant, it cannot be replaced with GMAT/GRE. For Toefl, the code for Aalto University is 7364. That is preferred, although the former Helsinki School of Economics (HSE) code 0636 (Graduate Schools 02) also still exists. A language test is not needed only in the following cases: The applicant has completed a degree in Finnish, Swedish or English at a university or university of applied sciences (polytechnic) located in Finland. The applicant has completed a degree in English at a university or university of applied sciences (polytechnic) located in the EU or EEA (European Economic Area) country. The language of education being English has to be stated in the diploma, its enclosure, transcript or a separate official document given by the university or university of applied sciences. The applicant has completed a degree in English at a university or university of applied sciences (polytechnic) physically located in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. When applying to Finnish degree programs, the applicant needs to have adequate skills in Finnish. This will be confirmed with an interview if needed. This webpage does not include admission criteria of education, which is organized in Finnish.
