PLAY DATE!
The first TKC MOPS Play Date was so much fun! Kristen and Missy got the kids singing and moving to some great tunes. After that, everyone headed outside for lunch at the picnic tables and free time on the playground. We hope you can join us this month for the next MOPS Play Date on October 19th from 10:00am to 11:30am. If your little one is too small to enjoy the music, come chat with other moms in a separate room for the babies!

MEET YOUR TKC MOPS STEERING TEAM!


Kristen Lester, Coordinator: Kristen has three children, Jordan (6), Taylor (4), and R.J. (2). She has been married to her husband Jeremy for 10 years in February. Kristen has been involved in TKC MOPS for six years. She grew up in Fairfax City, VA and has worked as an Ice Hockey Instructor and Human Resource manager. Kristens favorite website to visit is www.aholyexperience.com. Cheryl Craddock, Administrator: This is Cheryls second year in MOPS and she has two children, Paige (15 months) and Emmett (born on 9/17). Cheryl was born in Fairfax and has been married to her husband Brian for five years. She worked as a first grade teacher before having kids and now works as the Children's Minestry director at The King's Chapel. Becky Fairchild, Hospitality: Becky has two children, Olivia (2), and Jack (3 months), and has been involved in MOPS for three years. She has been married to her husband Tim for five and a half years. She was born in Oregon and grew up in Idaho. Becky worked as a Recruiting and Training Coordinator for Clark Builders Group, and now occasionally makes wedding cakes. She loves family time, jigsaw puzzles and cooking. Facebook is her go to website because she loves being able to keep up with her out-of-town familys lives and watching their kids grow up. Allison Kuykendall, Fundraising: Allison has three children, Lilian (4), Emelia (3), and Fiona (16 months), and has been involved in MOPS for four years. She was born in Denver, CO and raised in Leesburg, VA. Allison has been married to her husband Kristofer for 6 years. She works as a Mortgage Loan Officer and enjoys cooking, sewing, and scrapbooking. Her favorite website to visit is www.makeit-loveit.com . Jessica Middleton, Crafts Coordinator: Jessica has three children, Elena (6), Mason (2), and Brock (10 months), and has been married to her husband Doug for 11 years. She grew up in Puerto Rico and worked as a high school science teacher. Jessica enjoys spending time with family, crafting, reading, and baking. Katherine Craddock, DGL Team Leader: Katherine has four children, Katie (8), Colt (6), Christian (4.5), Blaize (18 months), and another baby due in April 2013. Her husband is Chris Craddock, Pastor for Young Adults at The King's Chapel, and they have been married for 12 years. Katherine has been in MOPS for eight years. She was born in Fairfax Hospital and grew up in Vienna, Virginia. She is a professional writer and a produced screenwriter with one movie, "For the Glory" set to be released before year's end, and a second movie, "The Senior Prank", in post-production. Kate Campbell, Registration: Kate has two children, Grace (2), and Claire (born 9/29), and has been married to her husband David for five years. This is her second year in MOPS. She grew up in Leesburg, VA and worked as a nurse before becoming a full-time mom. Kate enjoys family time, baking, couponing, organizing, cloth diapering blogs or websites, and Pinterest. Abby Schroeder, Publicity: Abby has two children, Noah (3) and Mason (2 months). She grew up in Wisconsin and has been married to her husband Bill for 7 years. Prior to becoming a full-time mom, Abby worked as a litigation paralegal. She enjoys running, camping, dark chocolate and play dates for the conversations with other moms!

Mom's Night Out is finally here. Join us at Stone Hot Cafe for some yummy coffee, desserts, and much needed girl time! WHEN: October 9th at 8:00 pm WHERE: Stone Hot Caf, 3905 Fair Ridge Dr, Fairfax VA 22033

Wilted Spinach and Quinoa Salad


Ingredients: 2 cups water 1 cup quinoa, rinsed 1 package (6 oz.) fresh baby spinach, torn cup dried cranberries Dressing: 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 tablespoons orange juice 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1 tablespoon maple syrup 1 garlic clove, minced teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 green onion, finely chopped cup chopped pecans, toasted

Directions: In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add quinoa. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Remove from the heat; fluff with a fork. In a large bowl, combine the warm quinoa, spinach and cranberries. For dressing, in a small bowl, whisk the oil, orange juice, vinegar, maple syrup, garlic, salt and pepper. Stir in onion. Pour over quinoa mixture; toss to coat. Sprinkle with pecans. Yield: 10 servings.
